Gabriel was a lot of fun and knew where the fish were.  He was very forthcoming on the PV life of a professional guide and fisherman…I learned a lot.  My fishing partner and I had a great time and we’re both ready to do a repeat…or even 3peat.

I have done many salmon fishing trips in California. I have to say this was the best saltwater fishing trip I’ve ever been on. Captain Nikolai did a great job. When a Dorado went under the motors, we got it unstuck. I was running the boat while he cleared the line, and I did not lose the fish. The trip started at 7 a.m. and by 8 we are on the fish. I caught three nice Dorados and 1 Skipjack.

My experience started well before boarding the boat.  Every question i had was answered promptly.  Upon arriving at the marina I was greeted by capitals of the boat. we imidiatly boarded discussed our fishing options and fue to high swell at the islands we decided to head to the southern point of the bay.  Needless to say it wasnt wide open fishing but the hard work of the crew made sure we would have every opportunity to catch fish.  we landed about 12 Mahi Mahi and 10 skip jack.  we kept what we thought was enough about 7 Mahi and the skip jack was used for bait mostly.  After affording ourself every opportunity at a trophy fish we decided we were satisfied with a great all around day of fishing.  . Boat was great, the gear was very good, and the crew was outstanding.  I would use this charter again in the future.  Ofcoarse I was a little disappointed in not being able to land more species but that’s fishing.

Although we did not catch any fish, this trip was great. We came at a really bad time for fishing which is why we did not catch fish ( we went out on a charter two days prior with the same results). It was a mixture of a full moon and the water being too warm. Bad timing.

However, Nicholas was great captain. Very knowledgeable about not only the fishing in the area, but the history of the area as well. We have done many guided trips down here and he was one of my favorite captains. Great service and would recommend to anyone.

We booked a 4 hour fishing trip with Captain Gabriel, but unfortunately, there was motor trouble with on of his other boats and he elected to stay behind and fix it.  The result was our crew ended up being his very young (15 and 17yrs) nephews.  They spoke little to no english and had very limited fishing experience. We did manage to catch one small roosterfish but that was the only bit in 4 hours.  As the owner of a fishing operation, you can’t control the fish, but you can control the customer experience.  I am confident that we would have had a great time with Capt Gabriel given his passion and years of experience on the water, but that’s not what we got.  We made the best of it, but overall, it was disappointing.  We should have been given a choice to rebook with Capt Gabriel or another experienced captain when the engine trouble came up at the dock.
