This was a trip with my wife, 21 year old daughter, and me, for a half day of near shore fishing.  David was a great captain and very knowledgeable about the fishery.  We probably had one of the best weather days of the summer, as it was flat calm, even when we were a few miles off shore.  The bite was decent, we landed a nice King Mackerel and three Amberjacks, with several more hookups that did not make it to the boat.  We trolled and jigged live bait.  We had several up close dolphin encounters, and a great boat ride out and back.
As a disclaimer, I am an avid fisherman and probably look for more out of the experience than maybe a typical tourist, and I would have liked the option of having an outfit rigged for casting plugs or swimbaits, as we encountered fish feeding on the surface a few times during the trip.  This is not a complaint at all, just an observation, and I know that with a short trip you are limited on what you can pack into a four hour trip (our trip was about five hours plus, which was nice!). 
This is the second time I have used the Soggy Bottom guys, and they will continue to be my go to charter in Destin. They do a great job and I highly recommend them, especially if you are looking for a smaller group, inshore or nearshore fishing, with captains that know what they are doing.

My wife, daughters, and I had a blast on the soggy bottom with Captain Andrew! We did the four hour trip and he kept us on fish anytime we weren’t moving! He knew exactly where the fish were biting the whole trip.  We caught red snapper, vermillion snapper, Spanish mackerel, squirrel fish, trigger fish, and even a flounder! On top of that, we even got to witness several dolphins including a small family of them that spend a few minutes near our boat!
I would highly recommend this fishing charter!

What a great trip with Captain David.  The Gulf was rough with storms around so we stayed inshore. First cast my son threw in, he landed a 24” sea trout. We were getting bites within minutes of throwing out. You could tell Captain David was knowledgeable of the area for sure. I know that had more storms not rolled in, and our trip not cut short we would’ve kept catching fish. I highly recommend these guys and will definitely be back on The Soggy Bottom!

We had an awesome fishing trip ! Can’t wait to come back and visit Destin. We were here visiting from Houston, Texas. Thank you so much for making our trip possible. Weather wasn’t looking too good for us but thankfully David and the weather did not give up on us. Turned out to be a beautiful day for fishing. We got to see some dolphins on the way to our fishing spot and a gorgeous sunset. We will definitely be booking again with them again

Had a great time on the water with Captain David. The fishing was slow, but we kept moving and found some fish. All equipment was in working order and we didn’t have any issues. Sadly we couldn’t go out into the gulf due to the conditions, but I appreciate the Captain making the safest and best decision for our trip. Hope that we are able to visit Destin again and get on some more fish with Soggy Bottom II.
