My wife and I booked a full day offshore and a 1/2 day inshore February 20th and 21st 2025.Luis and his crew were outstanding on finding the action. Offshore we caught yellow fin and also a decent sailfish. In shore we targeted rooster fish , and as fishing goes sometimes it was pretty slow . We had a couple of hookups but lost them. It was getting close to the time to make the run back to the marina but Luis ran south (the opposite way and we picked up a nice rooster. Luis is a good fisherman who works hard to put you on the fish. Jody Laffins Grass valley california.

Fishing can be unpredictable, but weโre always doing our best to find the action, like with that nice rooster at the end of the day! The whole crew, really appreciates your kind words and we look forward to having you back out there for another great adventure.

We had an awesome time fishing offshore today with the Crocodile Sushi Hunters! We caught close to an 8 ft Marlin that weighed probably 300lbs! Insane. We also caught a bunch of Blue runners on our way back in. The guys were the best!!
Thank you so much for the awesome review! Weโre thrilled you had such an epic day aboard Cocodrilo XVII โ that 300 lb marlin was unforgettable! The crew had a blast out there with you, and those blue runners on the way back were the cherry on top. Itโs always a pleasure to share these moments with passionate anglers like you.
We canโt wait to have you back for the next adventure!
Tight lines, Luis Gatgens The Sushi Hunter

There were 4 of us in our group and we all caught big Sailfish and 1 small Tuna. Crew was awesome and boat was great.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like you had a successful day on the water catching both sailfish and tuna. Weโre glad to hear that the crew and the boat met your expectations. If you have any more fishing adventures or questions, feel free to reach out!
I booked a fishing excursion through FishingBooker.com, and while the platform made it easy to compare charters and read reviews from other travelers - giving me confidence in my choice - the experience itself was disappointing.
On the morning of our trip, the captain demanded more than the agreed-upon price at the dock to cover additional expenses. Since we already purchased our fishing licenses were ready to depart, I had no choice but to pay if we wanted to fish that morning. Additionally, the charter listing clearly stated that lunch (chicken quesadillas) was included, but none were provided.
To top it off, fishing that day was hard. We had a difficult time locating bait - and were one of the few charters I saw that had to return to fish for additional bait later in the morning.ย In addition to having a hard time finding bait, the bite was very slow on the fishing grounds the captain chose.ย We caught one smallish red snapper and a few other species we were not targeting.ย We were not able to land a roosterfish, which was my main hope for a picture on this excursion.
I will say that the captain (Raul) and mate worked very hard for us - chumming the water and placing all the lines they had in the water to try and get us a bite. Iโm just not sure they put us in the right position to succeed.ย We were the only boat in the area we were fishing for much of the morning - and the only other boat that started with us left when the bite was slow. I wonder if the other boats we saw in the morning had better luck than us that day - and if we should have moved on as well?ย Iโll be trying a different charter the next time Iโm in Costa Rica.

Dear,Vincent Favio
Thank you for sharing your experience. Weโre truly sorry to hear that your trip didnโt meet your expectations, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue to improve.
Regarding the additional charge you mentioned, we want to clarify that it was not an unexpected fee, but rather the 13% Value Added Tax (VAT) mandated by Costa Rican law for all tourism-related activities. This tax is automatically applied when payment is made by card or any electronic method. The only way to avoid this additional charge is by paying in cash, which we also note in our communication. We understand this may not have been completely clear and will work on making it more transparent in the future.
As for the lunch, we regret the misunderstanding, but we do not include lunch on half-day trips, and this is clearly stated on both our website and our FishingBooker listing. Weโre unsure where the information about chicken quesadillas may have come from, as it is not part of the included services for that type of charter.
Additionally, weโd like to remind you that the owner of the charter personally reached out to you after the trip to discuss your concerns, and even offered a complimentary t-shirt as a gesture of goodwill. At that point, we believed everything had been clarified, so this review comes as a surprise. That said, we completely understand and respect your right to share your experience publicly.
We know fishing can be unpredictable, and weโre sorry you werenโt able to land the roosterfish you were hoping for. Still, we truly appreciate your acknowledgment of Captain Raรบl and the crewโs efforts throughout the day.
We would love the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide the experience you were hoping for.
Sincerely, Luis Gatgens **hidden content** **hidden content**

Date Sept. 28th. Dorado/Mahi fishing is picking up and we had good fishing around the drift wood, leaves, and seaweed that floats along the confluence of a current line between disparate water masses. Captain and 1st mate provided excellent service and worked diligently to find and hook up fish. I highly recommend Sushi Hunter for a fishing charter out of Quepos. Hoping to return in November or early December when the Dorado bite is peaking. Sushi Hunter is a fully outfitted Mako Center Console fishing boat with outriggers, shade for the bow seating with twin 200Hp outboards to get to the fishing grounds quickly. Nice setup.
