Catchy title right?! Thereโs a hilarious story to accompany it! We got out headed up the intercostal waterway & stopped to fish around some docks, it was stormy a little earlier & fishing is just unpredictable at best! Capt Gil kept our hooks baited (hubby said he thinks he lost his man card, heโs never had anyone keep him baited up!) & we were getting some catfish & good hits. At our 2nd dock stop I caught a ray! He said that it was VERY rare to catch one that far north & we returned it to the water. We piddled around here & there & caught a few more trash fish. Hubby caught a couple black drums by now. He decided to check another spot & off we went. I had water & snacks packed as one would expect on a fishing trip. I pulled out my banana & got it peeled & LITERALLY had my mouth opened to take a bite. Our boat came to a FULL STOP & he said, โmaโam Iโm sorry but youโre gonna have to toss that over & Iโm not even jokingโ & my flabbers were GHASTED. Like โhe has a banana allergy? Are the peels toxic to fish? What is going on?!โ He told us the โmariners taleโ about boating & bananas & he had us pull alongside the other captain & just hold up my banana & the captain just looked & let out a half laugh & said โhow many yall got?โย Our captain answered back โ2.โย The other captain said, โwouldโve had 10โ. I was too tickled. We went to find another honey hole & caught a 19โ red drum & 2 of the biggest โtrash fishโ heโs ever seen in his life. Like he took pics & was showing them to several others at the docks!ย We wound up with 3 fish in total. The red drum & 2 black drum. He also recommended a local restaurant that would cook out catch & we decided to go & I am so glad we did!! They had some of the best hush puppies & homemade tartar sauce Iโve ever had! The fish they cooked for us was delicious as well!!!ย All in all, it was a great day & I 100% will use them again for charter fishing when we are in the area!!!! If I had to give โstarsโ it would be 4.9 out of 5 bc my banana was smelling so good & I wanted to take a bite haha! ๐

Thank you!
It was a tad rough, but the unanimous decision was made to go for snapper.ย Most boats stayed in shore and we went out and that made all the difference. One snapper short of a limit but caught a lot of fish including a decent number of triggerfish. Captain is great with youngsters.
I am a stroke victim with limited right side use. The captain and crew were outstanding from getting me on the boat, helping me catch fish , and getting me off of the boat. The equipment was perfect for my limitations. I highly recommend Southern Sun Inshore Charters and Captain Charlie and Justin the deck hand. Worth every penny spent on the trip and I will be rebooking with them in the future. Bill Boatman
Honestly, probably top fishing captain yet and we have had some really amazing captains. Very knowledgeable and took time to give my son some ideas and pointers regarding his desire to work a boat/Marina. If anyone happens to read this and is debating which captain to choose like I was, just stop scrolling and be done! Search over, have a beer and relax you picked the best! Thanks again for everything!!!!
I cant say enough about Charlie. He had us on fish within 20 minutes of leaving the marina. This was such a great experience for me and my sons. Having Charlie as our Captain was such a bonus. We will definitely be booking another trip soon.
