We had a great time, Janis was very knowledge and made this one amazing trip, I will definitely book her again the next time we are in Key West..
Your group was a blast to have aboard. And that grouper was quite the catch! Thank you for making it a fun day!
We had a great time. Captain Janis knows the spots for reef snorkeling and catching fish. Highly recommend.
Having fun people aboard makes for a fun day all around. Iโm glad you achieved your goal to catch caught some fun fish. Thanks so much for choosing my boat!
Capt. Janis took us right to fish and she could not have been nicer. We had a great day.
Thank you both for being awesome guests! It was great having you aboard!
After reading the description of Captain Janisโ 4 hour tour, we were excited to be able customize our day. At the beginning of the trip Janis asked us what we wanted to do, we told her visit the sandbar and then do some fishing. She immediately said that those were in opposite directions, meaning she wasnโt going to accommodate us. Thought this was strange since everything in the description said she would take us wherever we wanted to go. Fishing was good, besides most of my family getting seasick (not the captains fault). The weather was great and the water was mostly calm. Felt Captain Janis didnโt have much knowledge of species of fish, she had to use the book to see what type of fish we were catching. Trip was good, not great. The icing on the cake was her phone call to us an hour after the trip. She said that we told her we had a good time, but the tip we gave her told her something different! This is NOT okay, you donโt call a customer inquiring about the tip they gave you! I thought this was the rudest and most unprofessional thing to do! We are a blue collar family, and the $700 trip was a lot of money for us to begin with. My family tipped her what we could afford, and she made us feel like crap.

It was great having your crew aboard. I was glad to be available on short notice and thought I accommodated what you wanted to do. I feel badly I didnโt come across clearly that the fishing and sandbar were both doable. I thought we agreed to fishing the reef first since that was your priority and takes the most time. I suggested sandbar be afterward in case the fishing was hot and you didnโt want to stop. It takes a lot of time to go from one activity to the other and yours was only a four hour trip, so I wanted to maximize your enjoyment of it. I truly leave the decision to my guests. You all seemed ok with that plan.
And it stinks that a few of you got sick on such a nice day. I can understand when that happens you donโt want to do much of anything. You were troopers though and stuck through it the whole time. Whenever I asked how you were holding up, you each said you were fine.
For the fishing, there were some fun catches. There are an innumerable number of species that can be at the reef and most of what gets caught are snapper. I will never profess to know the specific regulations on all the species though, and there are often subtle nuances in distinguishing some fish from their cousins. There are plenty more that arenโt often caught on my boat, so I will most definitely refer to book, app, and fellow captains as needed to confirm the catch and regulations. The random catching of a variety of fish is part of the fun. Thereโs always something interesting at the reef and you folks caught a variety.
As for the call, I feel badly you interpreted it as you did. I really donโt have an expectation for tips and appreciate them when I get them. It wasnโt about that. Misinterpreted or not, what I received was a silent message of doing a really poor job for you, and that affected me deeply. I make every effort to ensure my guests have a great time, my livelihood depends on it. So I couldnโt go without asking for feedback after such a surprising way of learning how unhappy you were with the trip. I asked for a call back to discuss what I could have done differently to make your trip a better experience for you. Iโm always open to learning what I can do better. If I misunderstood you, as your comment seems to suggest, then a return call would have resolved it. Apparently there was indeed feedback to be shared.
During pre-departure I said one of my rules is to have a good time and not hold back in letting me know if you werenโt, so I could change it. I really wish you would have spoken up and given me the chance to make your trip more enjoyable for you. I was glad to have you aboard and am still open and receptive to having a call to discuss your feedback more fully.
Thank you again for choosing my boat.

Had a GREAT trip with Janis!! It was my first time salt water fishing off of a boat, and she made it so easy, and so fun. The snorkeling we did, was beyond gorgeous. Janis is an awesome captain, and an all around awesome woman!!
Iโm so glad you had a great day. You were totally rockโn it with the yellowtail and super fun to take snorkeling. Thank you so much for choosing me for your adventure!
