We had an incredible time with Captain Rodney. From the get go he was professional, charming, and super knowledgeable. Booked semi last minute and Rodney was very accommodating and communicative.

This was the first charter we’ve ever booked and had a fish on within 10 minutes. Rodney knew where to go and explained why we were fishing there and what to look for. Used several different baits as well as techniques.

He was awesome with our 7 old and making sure he was center to the action. Rodney was great about making sure our boy was understanding what to do and why to do it, as well as pushing him to try new things

We had an absolutely spectacular day on the water! From start to finish, the charter was top-notch. The crew was not only professional and knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel effortless and fun.

The boat was spotless, comfortable, and clearly well cared for, and the gear was high-quality and ready to go. Within no time, we were pulling in fish and creating memories that will last a lifetime. The captain knew all the best spots, and his experience really showed—every detail was thought through to make sure we had the best chance for success.

I had taken my dad and my uncle, both seasoned anglers from India, to Hilton Head while they were visiting me and we had such a great day on the water with Capt. Rodney Summers. He accomodated our special request to do both near shore and inshore (for spinning) fishing and spent significant time doing both. Although we didn’t catch fish we could keep :( (too small or too big), we caught a LOT — catfish, red fish, sharks (yes, multiple) — and had a great time doing it. I have fished multiple times before, especially in the last 3 years, but I’m still somewhat of a noob and Capt. Summers did a great job showing me the ropes patiently. Great conversationalist, great guy! 10/10 would recommend and 100/10 will book him next time I go fishing in Hilton Head. All the stars! ⭐️♾️

P.S. Probably holds the world record for the cleanest fishing boat!

We embarked on the 5 hour morning trip with Rodney. We are not expert fishermen but Rodney was there with all of the lessons and tips. He worked really hard to get us set up and multiple lines in the water. His instruction was clear and we successfully reeled in multiple fish. Some would consider this trip to be low on catches and bites but that was no fault to Rodney or southern summers. It was very hot out when we went and the water was very warm. We learned the fish tend to be slow during times like these in the heat of summer. If you are looking to do a drip do some research on the best times to go.  He was also very patient with the fact we were very novice fishermen. We had a great time and already agreed that the next time we come back we will definitely be booking with Rodney and southern summers.

Very happy with the fishing trip that Rodney Summers took us on. We booked a short 3 hour trip but Rodney put us on the fish early and had plenty bites. We were able to pull in a trout, sting ray, lady fish, croaker and several sharks.
We did catch a 4ft bull shark that gave my wife a good fight! Got some pictures we will share with others for a long time.
Rodney was a great captain, easy to talk with and made the trip fun. Extremely clean boat and great equipment, we highly recommend Southern Summers Charters for a fishing trip. We will be back. 🎣
