so many things wrong with this trip…

1. captain changed the start time from 7am to 830 because he said he had to wait for bait

2. we were there at 815, he came out of his house at 830 and then left to go get bait, got back and then we had to wait more b/c he said he had to “take a sh!t”

3.  we then had to stop for him to get fuel and instead of a intercoastal/near shore trip, he took us out 25miles in choppy waters.  we ultimately did not get lines in the water until 11am.

4.  Captain was not very attentive,  did not have tackle prepared and at one point said “you fish,  i need to take a break”

would not recommend and was tempted to ask for a refund but ultimately chalked it up as a bad choice.

We had an absolute blast with Captain Josh and his first mate, Jenny!  Probably the most important is that both of them worked their butts off keeping fresh bait on all four of our lines.  Our asks prior to going: 1) Have fun - celebrating two of the girls’ birthdays.  2) Catch colorful fish (not the brownish ones other charters catch off shore) and 3) Outfish the guys in our group ;).  SUCCESS!  I lost track of the number of places Josh drove us to fish. We’d stay a bit, catch fish and when it slowed down, we’d move again.  While we didn’t personally catch a trophy fish, we had a blast catching between 70-80 fish (way more than MN pan fishing!).  The keepers are in the photos.  He cleaned all of them so we could fry them up for dinner that night.  Would leverage him again for sure!

Would be perfect boat for inshore or fearsome fishing.

WOW!!! This was an out of EARTH experience. Before the trip even started, Captain Josh had amazing communication with me on what to expect and planning our custom trip to the type of fish we wanted to catch and what we wanted to do. The customer was first and there was no question about that even once. We got on the water before our scheduled start time with everything being ready. We did not waste even one minute waiting for him to prepare because he did his prep professionally.

When we got on the water the boat was smooth and he did a great job maintaining the level of the boat out over 35 miles. We got a very professional “how to” catch the fish in the area. We spent about 20 minutes or so as a practice dropping the lines and learning how to maintain tension on the fish to bring them up with ease.

The areas that he scouted and brought us to we either brought up a good sized keeper, had a good fight on the line, had a catch and release, or lost the bait within minutes when the fish out smarted me.

With every time a fish got hooked, Captain Josh was motivational and drew his attention to us and coached us on how to maintain tension and what to do so we didn’t lose the hook or snap the line. I was able to hook an almost 5 foot barracuda and when my fight was over (I couldn’t reel anymore because I was gassed) I asked Captain Josh to help and he finished the fight getting him to the boat where we were able to successfully get him for a picture!

Captain Josh provided education on why certain species were protected and what seasons we could keep certain fish. Safety was obviously his number one priority and very professionally obtained our attention if we were doing something unsafe.

There is so much more to say but to summarize it I will say these words: Professional, Experienced, Rewarding, Fun, Challenging, Exciting, Supportive, Innovative, Team player, Comfortable, Integrity.

Great family trip. Josh and Brian made our trip enjoyable. First of all they work hard, and they are not all business and make it pleasurable. My 14 year old Grandson was our main priority as this is his first vacation in over 2 years after being sick and they gave him a shirt and rolled the red carpet out for him. We caught plenty of fish. Hats off to Josh and First Mate Brian. Can’t wait till next year!
