The fishing trip was epic and I would 100% recommend Captain Josh.

A friend from college was down for the weekend and I wanted to treat him to some proper fishing. He was a total novice, not having fished since he was 12 in some creek. Josh made sure we knew where to meet and how to contact him before the trip and also was flexible with the timing but the best part was the fish. I’ve taken about 5-10 guided trips over the last 2 years and this was hands down the most productive trip.

First off, he showed up with a live well full of bait so we didn’t waste time having to catch our own. There are two kinds of Captain’s - ones that show up with bait and ones that don’t and will spend your time on the clock getting bait. Its not a huge deal but makes a difference when you are on a 4 hour charter. We started catching snook within about 10 minutes but they weren’t very large. He got us moving and took us to two more spots where we caught fish but not many. My friend had no idea what he was doing and Josh was patient and helpful without being too overbearing. We moved on to the last spot and I didn’t want to leave.

We caught snook, redfish, jack and even a spanish mackerel on live bait. We could barely keep our hook baited, every few minutes another fish. There were 2-3 times when we were both hooked up and eventually we stopped counting how many fish we caught. I had been hoping to finally catch a big snook and lucked out by catching my new personal best. There was also a slot redfish - we were down in 10,000 Islands so I was able to keep it. This was my first keeper redfish and with some blackened redfish magic they really are as delicious as people say.

I highly recommend choosing Captain Josh as your guide. He was communicative prior to the trip on what to expect, bring items (lunch, etc) confirm meeting time and location. He was very knowledgeable in fishing locations based on tide tables and best of all, we caught a red that was TOO BIG to keep ( first time ever hearing that.) Overall, it was a guided trip that was fun and I highly recommend him as your guide.

Fishing was a touch slow but that’s why it is called fishing not catching. And not for a lack of effort. Josh did everything he could to put us on the fish and we caught several snook and other varieties. He moved multiple time and had good equipment great knowledge and plenty of bait! Boat was very clean and Josh was professional and fun!!

Captain Josh was patient, kind and friendly. He helped my grandson, a “newbie”, make his first catch! It was nice being the only family on board as well. Would highly recommend booking his charter. This experience exceeded our expectations

My father and I are experienced fishermen from NJ and came down to see what Southwest Florida had to offer. Captain Josh was great, extremely knowledgeable of the fisheries and had multiple spots making for a very productive fishing day even in not optimal conditions. Will definitely book again in the future and recommend to anyone looking for the 10,000 island experience.
