Capt Chris from In Debt Charters made our family fishing trip the highlight of our whole trip to the Outer Banks. He made sure to contact us ahead of time to figure out the best day to go so we didn’t have to cancel due to the hurricane that was on the way. He also reached out to verify that we weren’t staying in an area that was being evacuated before we left on our road trip. We have three teenagers who absolutely loved the trip and I think we all know it’s not the easiest to find things that teenagers enjoy to do with us, haha . Capt Chris made us all feel included and welcomed as if we were just enjoying a great fishing day on the water with a friend. He went out of his way to help us catch all sorts of fish. We had such a great experience on our 2-hour trip with Captain Chris! From the moment we stepped on the boat, he made us feel welcome and comfortable. He was especially amazing with my 5-year-old son—patient, encouraging, and so kind. My son talked about “Captain Chris” the whole rest of the day, which tells you how much fun he had.

Although we didn’t catch a lot of fish, that had nothing to do with the effort put in on Captain Chris’s part. It was simply the weather and the time of year—the fish just weren’t biting. Captain Chris tried multiple spots, gave us a lot of opportunities, and used his knowledge of the area to give us the best chance possible. We really appreciated how much he explained along the way, which made the whole trip educational and enjoyable, even when the fish were quiet.

What stood out the most was how genuinely friendly and easygoing he was. He made the entire outing stress-free and fun, which is exactly what we were hoping for. We would absolutely recommend Captain Chris to anyone, especially families with kids—he goes above and beyond to make sure you have a memorable time on the water. We’ll definitely be booking with him again in the future!

had a really good time and the captain could not have been better. The charter could accommodate anyone who was wishing to fish. Unfortunately, we did not catch any fish on the day we went out. That is always a chance whenever you charter a fishing trip.

Captain Chris was fantastic! Super knowledgeable and helpful, especially for us novice anglers! Our whole group had a blast and had plenty of fish to take home and fry up, and cleaned it up right on the boat. Will definitely be coming back, thank you for a wonderful time!

First of all, Captain Chris and his first-mare son are very good people. It was like fishing with old friends. I told Chris initially that I wanted to wreck fish and that is exactly what we did. He had us on fish the entire day. We had a blast with sea bass and trigger fish and had several drag screaming encounters with shovel head sharks.
Back at the dock, Chris cleaned the fish and we took home some very high quality seafood. I would recommend Chris to anyone who enjoys hands-on fishing.
