Went on a 6 hour fish. Took us about 2 hours to catch our limit of Vermillion Snapper, caught 2 Scamp Groupers, some Red Snapper we had to put back (not in season), caught a couple Trigger Fish that wasn’t quite big enough to keep, trolled for Spanish Mackerel and wrestled a 7ish foot shark. We saw two turtles and we had dolphins follow us just about the whole time and even stole a couple of the catches before we could get them into the boat. The weather and the water was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Captain Clay knows his stuff and puts you on the type of fish you want if you’re particular about that. It was just my wife and me, Clay and his good mate Q assisting. We didn’t go very long without a bite, and if the wrong type fish were biting, Clay move us very quickly to get a better spot, and Q had us baited quick and in the water. I’d highly recommend this charter, especially if you’re an experienced angler, but I could tell they would be good with the non experienced angler as well.

The communication was pretty poor. I never heard from anyone until one day before the trip and it was a text message from a random number. No introduction, just a message that said our trip would start at 8am at a certain address. A proper introduction and communication through FishingBooker would’ve be appreciated. Our time and location were different than what we signed up for as well. It would be good to state on the booking that the time and location can be adjusted. We had no idea that this could be the case and had to drive 45 minutes instead of 10 minutes to the location. We also had other plans in our day that had to be shifted around to account for the time change that we didn’t know could happen.

Once we were on the boat, there was never any introduction. The captain and crew never even asked our names. The captain was particular “all business”. The crew member was more friendly and was at least laughing and joking with us.

We did catch small fish (pin fish, pig fish, dog fish, spanish mackerel), but overall the experience was not very enjoyable and not worth the hundreds of dollars. I would not recommend booking with this company.

CPT Clay put us on some fish from the beginning.  Started off catching some bait fish and some Vermilion Snapper and a Trigger fish and then ended up catching some nice sized Amberjack. They were not in season to keep but they are a great fighting fish and will wear you out.  Still brought home some meat for the freezer and the boys had a great time. Will definitely use CPT Clay again in the next few months when Snapper and Jack are in season.
