Older boat and electronics.  Even the Captain said we were in the right place because we were close to a boat with modern electronics.  $100 fuel charge even though fuel prices have been going down that isn’t advertised in the price.  How long does it take to update your pricing and accurately represent the cost.  No food provided on a all day charter- really.  Crew seemed to be just going through the motions.  Overall, wouldn’t go with them again.

I booked this trip on the basis of Captain John’s extensive experience “John has been living in Kona since 1998 and enjoys the unparalleled year round Blue Marlin and Tuna fishery that the area provides.” We communicated back and forth using the fishingbooker.com app. We agreed to a 6 am charter. At no time did he inform me that it was not going to be him who captained the boat.  The website notes, “For the past 10 years, he has been working with Captain Dave Bensko, so one of these two amazing Captains will be taking you out.” To my surprise Dave shows up at the boat at 6 and his deckie shows up at 6:30. We get underway a bit before 7.  I asked Dave what happened to John, ‘Oh, he lives in Florida.” Having Dave, not John, would not have been a problem for me if John had told me in advance.JOHN tell your customers who they will be fishing with. Zero fish, Zero strikes.  I realize tlhat no trip can guarantee fish, Dave did his best and his deck mate Davey really explained the use of the equipment.
