We were told it was a slow day for what we caught, but for two guys who have never fished the Bay or much salt water at all it was incredible.  David was extremely helpful getting us going and in the water.  Our half-day trip managed to extend well beyond the five hours in an effort to get our daily limit, which shows the level of effort David was willing to put in.

I would highly recommend David’s charter primarily because of the small group he brings out.  It’s a smaller boat and I believe maxes out at six people, which is far more comfortable than what some of those larger boats look like.  His knowledge and experience is extremely invaluable as well.

I recently had the pleasure of going out on a halibut and striper fishing trip with Captain Dave in San Francisco on June 19th with my Father and two good Friends, and I can’t recommend the experience enough! Captain David and his sidekick Aaron were simply THE BEST. We had a wonderful outing with them. They were soooo helpful in teaching us how to fish properly. They were patient, kind and super supportive. They took us all over the bay to ensure that we caught as many fish as we could. Then, they filleted the fish for us at the end. We had a blast on Captain Rooney’s Charter despite our slow start to catching fish. Captain Rooney was very knowledgeable about the various strategies used to catch halibut and in the end, it paid off. We caught more than enough halibut to feed 6+ people! His kindness and enthusiasm for fishing made the time in between hooking a fish fly by. Would book again!

Had a great trip fishing with my friend and both of our sons. We caught 8 stripers and 5 halibut. I would definitely recommend booking with them. I will be again.
