First off, let me say that Capt Reid and his 1st mate Billy were very good once we got to the boat.ย
However, I have to rate the overall experience as poor and here is why.ย On Tuesday I had called Capt Reid and asked about the fishing forecast for Friday and also asked about extending our day from 6 hours to 8 hours.ย He called me back and did accommodate my request to extend the trip to eight hours but said he hadnโt looked at the forecast.ย On Thursday, my family and I drove down to Destin from Atlanta for our Friday trip.ย We went to the docks and learned that most boats did not go out on Thursday due to a small watercraft advisory and rough seas.ย So on Thursday night I called Capt Reid and left a voice mail asking if we would be fishing Friday at 6am before I bought all our food for the next day and got the family up at 4:45am.ย I didnโt not get a return call, so we prepared for a day of fishing Friday.ย We arrived at 5:20am to the boat and at 6:10am capt Reid approached us and gave us the choice of going out or canceling the trip.ย The only reason for our drive to Destin was to fish so we told him weโd take the risk of rough seas as we gave up three days and a lot of prep to fish.ย He said if we understood that it was very rough heโd take us and only charge for the length of time we stayed out.ย About 60 minutes into the trip, my fiancรฉ got sea sick along with one of my kids so we agreed we needed to head back in.ย
We arrived back at 8:35am and left about 6:10.ย I paid the deposit of $190 to fishing booker, $680 directly to Capt Reid, $90 for a tip to the first mate and lost two days traveling to and from Atlanta to Destin so this was a very expensive outing with little communication leading up to the trip.ย
I love deep sea fishing but canโt recommend this trip to anyone just going to Destin to fish as there wasnโt enough communication in advance to cancel prior to showing up at the dock.

Mr. Belanger, I hate yโallโs day went the way it did! First, I canโt be expected to cancel trips with a sea forecast of 3-5โ. That was the forecast and that is exactly what it was. These conditions are safe and fishable. Four sport fishing charter boats, out of the 50 that went, returned early. We were one of the four. Many ran 2 trips. I took an extra couple minutes in the morning to look at every weather app I possess so I could come to yโall with the most updated information available. My apologies for the delay. I only know of a few Captains that would have given you the opportunity to have all of your deposit returned and no charge assessed. I gave yโall my knowledge. I told you we were safe, and my crew and myself were fine. Yet, I highly recommended for us to pass on this fishing day. I said to all of yโall, it really just takes a lot of the fun out of it. And, all I want out of this is for yโall to enjoy and have fun doing itโฆ and today, as it turned out, isnโt the day for your kids. You asked your eldest kid, you asked your wife, and against all I informed yโall of, yโall wanted to go. Trying to catch bait, in my opinion, didnโt go so well. So I asked you again, before we headed offshore.. Are you sure you want to go? Are yโall good with this? Yes and yes you said. Come to find out, your wife was already seasick, yet you wanted to press on. So we did. So after 9 miles, and more of your family seasick, you asked me to turn around, so I did! Your obligation was for the entire amount. Yet, I didnโt charge you that. I feel for your family having to feel the way they did. I hate that yโall went through the effort, yet didnโt have a great day to remember. I donโt feel my business, nor myself, deserve anything but a thanks for the honesty and opportunity to opt out with a complete refund.

We only booked a 2 hour trip but they treated us like we were family. I highly recommend this boat and crew. We had a great time and everyone was very friendly and helpful. They are the best!!! Frank Post

Captain was pretty quiet and didnโt really interact with any of the customers. The deck hand was friendly and helpful. We caught nice red snapper very quickly on our first drop. After 5 minutes of catching fish, we moved spots and caught very few fish the remainder of the day.
We didnโt reach our limit of red snapper. Had we fished the first spot for 15 more minutes, we would have limited out.
Fewest, smallest catch we have ever had on an 8 hour charter in Destin.
