This was an excellent experience for the whole family with Captain Devin and his First Mate.  I can say enough great things about how prepared they were and considerate, but what blew us away was how amazing they were with our young children.  They took time with them, made it fun, and of course helped keep them safe.  When we come back again we’ll be searching for Captain Devin!

We were hot on Spanish Mackerel as soon as we left the inlet.  The captain moved us out further to see if we could find a bigger fight and put us on a bunch of monster Spanish.  While enjoying that, we ran up on a small school of red drum and landed two.  The captain and mate made sure we had a great time AND we took home plenty of dinner.  Easily recommend the Poacher to anyone.

Captain Devin and his first mate are top notch and wonderful. After 20 years of coming to OBX we’ve found yet another wonderful tradition that will repeat its self. They are honest about the catch and work hard to provide the best experience possible, a clean boat and good attitude is the definition of the Sea Poacher. Thanks for some great memories and some tasty dinner!

What a fun morning this turned out to be! Knowing mid-summer is never a huge fishing time… capt and the first mate did a great job getting our group quickly onto some ribbon fish! They were a blast to fish and the first-mate was great helping us out and even gave some cooking tips… fish tacos tonight! The rest of the time we spend trolling deeper for tuna or mackerel, luckily landed a tuna on the troll! All in all it was great, the captain and first mate were very personable and friendly!... More
