The boat is old and the captain is simply checking the boxes. We caught a couple fish, but the experience wasnโt worth the price. There are many other charters in the area and we wish we would have paid the little extra to be on a more comfortable boat with places to sit and a more engaged captain.
I have yet to encounter a fishing tour where no fish were caught. It seems that this particular tour lacks the expertise of a professional fishing excursion, as all the other boats returning to the harbor are laden with an abundance of fish.ย I do not recommend this business to anyone.
Sorry you didnโt have a good day but letโs take a look at what really happened. You booked a half day sightseeing seeing/fishing trip. So you are not going to get that much fishing time and the trip description tells you that. The extra time is for the sightseeing. We discussed that prior to leave the dock. Your party consisted of your self two young children and an elderly gentleman who didnโt speak or understand English who you weโre going translate to but you didnโt do that. When we started to fish we had the first salmon in 12 minutes unfortunately your 9 year old with the help of your father lost it at the side of the boat because they totally ignored what I was telling them to do. About 10 minutes later your father hooked the second salmon which he lost also because you werenโt translating what I was telling him to do. Shortly after that your 9 year old said he was getting sick and he wanted to go where it was calmer and you agreed even though I told you that the fish were out were it was a little rougher but we did go where it was calmer but no fish. Iโm not quite sure how that was my fault you have to fish where the fish are and your kid didnโt want to and you agreed. As for all the other boats coming in with an abundance of fish Iโm not quite sure where you came up with that maybe the day before but not the day we went the weather the day was 40 knot winds and 14 foot sea on the outside of the bay the only reason we were able to go was we were on a half day and weโre able to fish inside the bay. Lastly what ever kind of activity you are doing you shouldnโt let a nine year old call the shots.

There was no mate.ย We of course expected a mate.ย The captain was not pleasant and discouraged halibut fishing.ย When we got back to shore we observed wagons and wagons full of halibut.ย We were pretty disappointed.
Most six passenger boats donโt have deck hands and Iโm not sure what the difference is if i baited your hook or a deck hand does as long as its baited? Im sorry you thought I was unpleasant if I discouraged halibut fishing it was because i had weather concerns just becuase other boats had wagons full halibut does not mean they had a nice day . Looking at the log book for that day it appears that everyone caughtt fish that day. Looking back on that day I believe the water where we needed to go halibut fishing was rough. I imagine had i taken you out there and you fell down and hurt yourself you would be a lot more disappointed

I see you gave me 31/2 stars but a thumbs down and a bad recommendation however with out an explanation it is a little difficult to address what the problem was anyway thanks for taking the time to right a review
Captain was friendly, everything else about the experience was bad. No first mate, if you want to cut your own bait and untangle your own lines this is the place to book. 6 people on the back of the boat was way to many. 4 maximum
Sorry you had a bad time although you didnโt need to bait your hooks nor did you have to untangle your own lines I would have preferred you had listened to my directions then we wouldnโt have had constant tangles. As far as baiting hooks I didnโt need your help in fact your help was more of a hindrance than help. Another thing to remember we were on a combo so just about the time the halibut started to bite we had to go salmon fishing even though I told you salmon fish had been extremely poor. And just so you know most six pack boats will not have deck hand also if you want more room charter a bigger boat. Last but not least remember itโs called fishing not catching.
