Went fishing on Tuesday and everything ran very smooth booking was fine meeting the guys at the port no issues at all , Mike the owner was a lovely guy could tell he was a really enthusiastic about his fishing and his business.

The fishing, when I booked the trip I asked if I could fly fish and my parter could lure fish and that was all set up and ready to go , once we got on the water we spent around 3 hours chasing tarpon in the lagoon which was enjoyable watching them role and swirl in front of you kept your confidence high , after that I asked the guide who was out with us if we could just concentrate on lure fishing so my girlfriend could get a bit of fishing in , so we changed and fished for bone fish for a an hour or 2 I managed to get one and so did the guide.  in all my years of fishing across the world I’ve seen guides hook fish but never actually fight the fish and bring it to the boat especially on a day like Tuesday when the fishing was tough as really the client should have been given the rod and allowed to fight the fish , after about an hour or so of fishing for bone fish we moved to a bit of water which was the same colour as chocolate milk almost the visibility in the water must have been under foot now being pretty experienced in lure and fly fishing I knew this wasn’t going to produce fish as there was no chance the fish would see the lures in that water and there wasn’t much vibration coming off the lures so I asked to come in 30 minutes early cause of this .

The guide Maurice was very fly oriented which isn’t a bad thing when I said I was going to fly fish but after we had fished for tarpon and I asked to go on the lure rod I was pretty much ignored when I asked to go fishing for Cuda’s and jacks , another issue with the guide is was very clear to tell he lost interest in the trip as soon as the fly rod was put away .

I can’t speak highly enough of mike he was a lovely guy who you can tell really wants you to catch fish and do well. it’s just a shame our actual guide seemed to have lost interest and done what he wanted to do .

Captain Noel was very professional.  He tried very hard to put us on the fish.  We managed to land just one little baracooda.  Hooked up on about 5 other fish but did not boat them (obviously, that is on me).  In retrospect, we should have maybe tried some smaller jigs or spoons just to get some action…I would go back and try an early am trip with Noel.  Very good guy.

This was a excelent day on water they put me on baby tarpon and if my poor casting had not got in the way i might have landed a few but we did manage to catch barracuda and snappers later in the day

Our guide was courteous and polite tried hard to put us on fish the day was nice the weather was great fishing itself was very slow.
