Four of us went out with Captain Lonny and his son Anthony for a half day of bay and reef fishing. Lonny and Anthony were very professional and went to great lengths to put us on the fish. We caught several mahi-mahi and a bunch of black fin tunas. Lonny’s son even took us snorkeling one afternoon. If we return to Roatan we’ll definitely be spending the day with Roatan Anglers again.
Amazing amazing amazing. Could not say enough. More then we can expected as always. Lonnie and crew have done it again. Can’t wait till next year.
Don’t waste your money!
Sorry to know you did not enjoy your fishing trip with Roatan Anglers. Our company offers AM and PM fishing trips. Roatan port and broker agency post weekly itinerary of all ships arrival and departure. The charter you reserved was for the afternoon fishing at 1:15 pm and you was arriving on a cruise ship that was arriving to port at 4:48 am and departing at 5:00 pm the fishes move with the tides and the moon. Fish are most active with the falling or dropping of the tides and the rising and setting of the moon that is when fish are most active when the tides are moving. For one to have the best chance to catch fish one has to go fishing early morning between 5:30 am and 7:00 am and 1:15 pm to 5:00 pm to have the best chance to catch fish. the time you choose to be picked up was not the best fishing time you choose to be picked up at 9:00 am. And took us about 20 to 30 minutes to locate you at the port. You didn’t follow exactly the instructions that our staff gave you. Normally all folks that book with us follow the instructions that our staff provide for pick up on the day of your charter. Our staff has booked fishing trips with many folks arriving by cruise ship and we are always able to get in touch with them while they are still onboard the cruise ship even if the ship has already docked, as long as your phone is on we are able to call or text but your phone was off and our staff called you at 5:30 am Roatan Honduras time the morning of your charter the ship hours are US time US is 2 hours ahead of our time first called you at 5:30 am Roatan time then tried calling you again at 6:30 am and also at 7:30 am Roatan Island time. called by the new number that you provided that was off. Our staff tried calling you every hour but there was no response from the new phone number it was off. you told us on fishing booker to call you by the new number that you provided and our staff told you we would call you as soon as the ship docked in port and is just what we did tried calling your new phone number that you requested our staff to do and we did as you told us but on the day of your trip our staff called your new phone number but to our surprise the phone went directly to answering machine then our staff tried texting you after realizing the phone number you provided was shut off our staff then sent you text messages on fishing booker, also tried calling the number you provided on fishing booker but no matter how our staff tried to reach you we were unable to get in touch with you. Didn’t get in touch with you until 8:00 am that morning Your arrival to the boat at the dock in the village was at 10:15 am, Capt. and deck hand was awaiting your arrival. and at 10:30 am you left the dock and headed out fishing. There’s no need to go 2 hours out to be in fishing grounds Roatan has deep blue Atlantic Ocean all around Roatan Island is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with in 15 to 20 minutes your in fishing grounds. By choosing the afternoon package our staff clearly tell you did not want to fish early morning and the cruise ship was leaving at 5:00 pm and our staff policy is to have folks back to the ship 1 hour before ship departure. In order for our staff to do your trip and have you back to the ship on time your charter had to start before 1:15 pm. The day of your trip was also a little windy and choppy that also contributed to the bite not being the best even tho if it’s windy and choppy fish are active and the bite can be productive and can also catch fish when it’s windy but the tides and the time of morning and evening has to be right in order to have a productive fishing trip If you was staying on the Island we would have been able to fish till sunset because early morning and late evening fish are more active that’s when the bite is on and one gets the best chance for a nice catch. If you were staying on the Island our staff would have offered to take you out another day for a couple of hours and you would only pay for fueling up and give tips to the Capt. and deck hand and our crew would gladly taken you out fishing another day but when arriving by cruise ship we’re unable to give you that offer. Some days fishing is good some days fishing is not so good that’s why it’s called fishing and not catching. But the time of day that you choose to be picked up at the cruise ship port to go fishing was not the best time. Fish not so active around that time of morning. Normally that time of day at 10:00 am fishermen are returning from fishing. You are also the first person to choose an afternoon charter when arriving by cruise ship. Normally folks arriving by cruise ship book morning charters and by 6:30 am and 7:30 am they are at the dock in the village boarding the fishing boat and heading out fishing. Our staff is very sorry to hear your fishing experience wasn’t the best. Our staff couldn’t take you fishing from 1:15 pm to 5:15 pm Arriving on cruise ship it’s recommended only book am trips. Kind regards
