He took us out a good ways to a really nice fishing spot. We pulled up quite a few to take home to eat really fast. Got a lot of big bites and got to see some amazing fish. Would recommend you book with this captain as soon as you can!
Guided Fishing is for people who want a quality experience without the work and expense of doing it themselves. Exhibit A: Captain Mike Woodie, former firefighter, lifelong fisherman, and father. First thing was a brief but thorough safety instruction. We left the dock just after seven, had our pogies in the well by eight and. were back from 20 miles out by noon with three nice kings in the box, two that got away and three barracuda attacks, one well over 30 pounds. Seas were 2 to 3 feet at first but lay down. We were always fighting a fish.  The beanbags in the stern cushion the ride. He showed excellent concern for the comfort of myself, my wife and our 14-year-old daughter. If you want a trip to remember, go with an expert. 
Captain Mike was excellent from start to finish. He has a very nice Scarab boat with dual 200 HP Honda engines, and it was clearly well set up for fishing offshore. He knew the boat, the local waters, and the fish extremely well. He took us out into deeper water and put us right on the fish. He knew exactly where to find the bait, got us hooked up quickly, and made sure everyone had a chance to catch fish. We ended up catching our limit, which says a lot about his experience and preparation. We did have to head back early because of a storm, but Captain Mike handled that exactly the way you want a captain to handle it: safety first, calm decision-making, and no unnecessary risk. Even with the weather cutting the trip short, he still made sure we had a successful day. Captain Mike and his son made a great team. They were both attentive, helpful, and focused on keeping everyone fishing and having a good time. It was clear they knew the spots, the boat, and the conditions. I would absolutely recommend Captain Mike to anyone looking for an experienced, safe, and productive fishing charter out of St. Augustine.
We slayed the Vermillion Snapper. Caught hundreds of pounds of Red Snapper, but it was closed season. Saw a 10' Hammerhead. Had several Cobia follow the lures, but weren't completely interested. Capt. Mike can put you on fish!
We had a fantastic experience with the Captain and crew. I would highly recommend these guys! Very professional and know the area very well. Looking forward to the next trip!
All three of our boys caught fish and had a great time! It was hot, but it was a beautiful day and Captain Mike worked hard to keep the lines out and baited! Great trip!
