If you’ve never gone with your kids, GO now. If your wife thinks she wont enjoy it, go. Have friends in from out of town, GO. What a great day! I grew up on this river and after promising my kids for over 20 years; we finally DID it. Wife said no way, scared of fish monsters; she LOVED it. We didn’t expect to catch much in the late June spawn, but Capt’n Mumma put us DEAD on the cats, and everybody landed >10lb and a pair of near 30’s! Breaking Capt’ns record since April. He works hard doing everything for you. Just reel em in and pose after weigh-in. The wife embarked hating ugly catfish thinking they look too much like sharks. She disembarked a catfish fan and proclaimed they are very cute (we have a bulldog). 4 hours X 6 friends is a perfect outing. Bonus trip up river to DC was beautiful and made it better. I’ll be back with the boys end of August when the action heats up even more. My wife plans on booking a late evening Ladies-Night with the girls from work very soon. So should you. So take your wife and kids (or girlfriend) on a trip asap before they discover how fun and easy this is and there is no room for you. And….my adult kids said “Thanks Dad”. Went on a day trip with Gene 12/30. Myself, wife, and 3 kids. Have been out with countless guides and Gene is cream of the crop. Has a fantastic all weather rig. Was great and informative with the kids. Not the hottest day of fishing but that’s how it goes. Definitely wasn’t from his lack of effort and out one of my boys on his PB. 41# blue! Won’t hesitate to take another trip with him when out that way!
It was my teen boys' first time fishing and they had a blast. Captain Gene was very knowledgeable and patient with my novices, and helped them catch a lot of catfish to include an 18-pounder.
