Great half-day trip with Captain Steve
The experience: We were out for roughly three hours and in that time had three fish on and were able to reel in two of them. Salmon fishing is not really for kids; They put up a heck of a fight and definitely require a fighting mentality, position and the muscle to reel in a very strong fish. Still, the trip was a total success and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Steve and Mike for their expertise! The captain: Steve clearly has a passion for fishing. He knew where to go to find the fish and rigged up 5 rods to fish with concurrently. He is great with children and makes sure that they (and everyone) are safe. When you are talking to him, he seems to have the ability to keep his eye on all five fishing rods at the same time and spring into action as soon as there is a fish on. Since we had kids with us he was happy to control the rod while the kids reeled in the line as much as they could. Great soft skills. The boat: We went out on their 27' boat and while we acknowledge that we aren't the average clientele (3 adults and 2 kids) we were hoping for some more comfortable seating on and below deck. The room that was available below deck to relax was cluttered however I don't fault the crew for this at all. As I said, we aren't the average clientele and having kids they didn't always want to be on deck. The bathroom (head) on board is tiny. Very tiny. Think airplane. If you need to use the restroom, do so before going out to the lake.
