Whether you're on vacation with your family and want to chase Hammerhead Sharks or are bent on reeling in a Wahoo, the crew will make sure you get a bang for your buck.
Year-round, Captain Derrick takes numerous anglers on fishing trips that are rewarding, filled with fish, and enjoyable. Capt. Derrick has been fishing since he was 8 and has fished out of Galveston for the past decade. He has been a full time guide for the last five years and has put scores of fishing enthusiasts on fish.
Derrick will welcome you aboard his 26 foot center console. She is powered by twin 200 HP suzuki's engines and is a reliable vessel to take you out . The boat features GPS, a fishfinder, VHF radio, stores all the safety gear, has an ice box, a live bait well, and a selection of fishing gear by Ugly Sticks and Penn. The boat can take up to six people.
Fishing trips with Capt. Derrick will see you fishing the jetty waters where you can sample tablefare and go home with Redfish, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, or Sheepshead. But that's not all. Head nearshore and target Cobia, King Mackerel, Snapper, or Sharks, or take a trip 50 miles offshore to battle with Mahi, Wahoo, and Tuna. It's your call.
When packing for the trip, remember to bring a valid saltwater fishing license. Please note that some trips don't include fuel costs and that you will need to cover those. The captain will supply all the fishing gear, bait, tackle, and lures. You should bring food, drinks, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera.
Invite your friends and come have a blast on the water!

iv been on 5-6 charters and this was by far the best!Captain Travis made the trip very enjoyable and helped me reach a dream- catch a shark. we caught 3 black tip including a 7 footer that was surreal. Anyone looking for a fish charter i would recommend looking no further . i will definitely be back!

it was a pleasure meeting you guys Travis enjoyed every moment he could not stop talking about how much money you have with you can’t wait to see you guys again and the catch cook was wonderful
Took the son out fishing for his birthday an Capt. Derrick came thru an put us on some fish. Caught a huge stingray, 41” redfish, 21” red, couple more but undersized. Also caught lady fish, croaker, sail cats, an a 3ft shark to top it off. Good times.

it was a blast fishing with you guys. Definitely enjoyed every moment of it. I love the excitement you guys had. Can’t wait to see you again.
Travis is a cool captain. We know how to fish, so he wasn’t trying to bait our hooks or tell us how to reel things in. Was just casual, playing good music and taking us to good spots. Fish were slow, but we caught some. Better than being at work….

thank you so much for taking time to make a review Travis you guys were great. It was a pleasure. Appreciate you.

Travis was an awesome Captain, would highly recommend his services. I’d recommend his services to novices, experts and everything in between. We caught all kinds of good stuff, including a Monsta Red Drum! Great Captain, and we had a great time on our trip.

So happy you guys enjoyed your trip. I saw pictures of the catch that red fish was massive. Happy you guys enjoyed fishing with Captain. Travis, hope to see you again soon.
Windy day. Water and climate was still cold so fish were a bit dormant. Only one other boat was seen out. Our trip was reserved months in advance as we flew in to Texas from Maryland so conditions or no conditions.....we're fishin! Capt Chop knew the spots! Spots that required much manuever to stay on top of. Caught multiple Reds, Drums, a couple of shovel heads and had a Cobia on the line that got away at the surface. We'll be back for that Cobia!
I have been fishing since the age of 8 and have been a resident of Galveston Island, Texas for the past 14 years. I have been fishing and boating for most of my life and have been guiding full time the past 8 years. I consider fishing more passion than sport and it is my goal is to make every angler aboard the Contender feel as if they are fishing with a friend, not a guide. I love to target all species of fish, but my favorite thing to fish for is shark. Most people enjoy a great fight, and pound for pound, a big shark is the best fighting fish you can possibly catch.
