Off Duty Charters offers a great time on the water for everyone, whether you are a complete beginner or an expert angler. A day of fishing with Captain Richard Martinez is fun for all ages!
Enjoy a quick ride to the waters close to shore, which are home to various types of Sharks. There are Blacktip, Atlantic Sharpnose, Bonnethead, and other species of these monsters that are especially great for a 'bragging' photo.
If Sharks are not up your street, Capt. Richard can take you out to Port Royal or Calibogue Sound, where you could sample anything from Ladyfish to Redfish. Otherwise, you could check the bite 5-10 miles off the coast of Hilton Head Island, targeting King and Spanish Mackerel, Tarpon, Jack Crevalle, Drum, and more.
A day out with Off Duty Charters will take place on a 24' Sea Fox center console, a spacious fishing machine. It is equipped with a single 200 HP Suzuki engine and features modern electronics, outriggers, and an array of quality rods and reels. You will mostly be using spinning and conventional gear, including reels by Penn. Live bait, lures, and fishing licenses are also included in the price.

Great fishing and Captain is amazing with kids!!

We had a wonderful trip! We caught plenty of fish—some we kept, and some we released. It was the first time our six- and four-year-old were on a boat together fishing, and the captain was absolutely fantastic with them.
The entire experience was amazing. I would highly recommend this charter to anyone—whether you're bringing young kids out for their first time or you're an experienced angler just looking for a relaxed and easygoing captain.
We had to reschedule our trip about three times, and the captain was incredibly understanding and accommodating each time. Great service, great experience!

Special 3 hour trip for J. Zurcher on May 3, 2025 • 5 adults
We enjoyed our outing with Off Duty Charters. Lines were in the water in about 25 mins from departure, and we hooked on to some sharks soon after. Ended the trip at a second spot with a nice hammerhead, which was a lot of fun (and a lot of fight!). Enjoyed being on the boat with Captain Richard and talking about our families. He's a very nice guy.

This was a great fishing trip for me and my three sons on our yearly vacation to Hilton Head. The weather was perfect and the sharks were biting. We had a great great time with Captain Richard because he was knowledgeable, patient and definitely hard-working as we caught some pretty large sharks, and even a tarpin!!
