Join Top Gear Fishing Charters, a family-owned business, for a perfect day on the water. This Gold Coast, Main Beach based operation focuses on running a professional safe boat and business. With over 45 years of industry experience, Captain Brian and his crew are here to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with you.
Their 38’ Berjun boat is an award-winning, purpose-built fishing vessel that has a powerful 420 HP Caterpillar engine. This energy efficient motor ensures low noise and no outboard fumes. The boat is stable, reliable, and designed for the open oceans of Australia. Undercover seating and roll-down sides will keep you cool and dry, while the large fishing deck offers plenty of room to move for up to 12 guests.
Captain Brian will provide fresh and live bait and the latest Penn and Shimano reels. There are reels for left-handed guests as well.
You will mostly target species such as Snapper, Flathead, Cobia, Kingfish, Goliath Grouper, Tailor, Grassy Sweetlip, Wrasse, Teraglin, Marlin, Mackerel, Tuna, and lots more. If the fish aren’t biting in one spot, the crew will move around to find the ones that are. Based on what you catch, Capt. Brian will gladly share his favourite fish recipes.
The boat is wheelchair accessible and it has a side door to make getting on the boat easy. Capt. Brian encourages everyone to come fishing with him. Just contact him before the trip and speak of your needs. He will always find a way to make fishing possible for anyone eager to join him on the water.

Great day, great crew, and great fishing!

Our crew had an amazing day! We caught some tuna, flatheads, and several other species of fish all day long. There were even whales swimming around near us, which was cool to see. Captain Brian and his deckhand don’t like to waste time. They are adamant about maximizing PRODUCTIVE fishing time and were both helping out with catching fish. You can tell they really love what they do. It’s not just a job to them. Everyone had a great time and lots of memories were made. Would definitely recommend!

Really had the best time, the captain had a wicked sense of humour so many laughs and his knowledge and passion shows. If you’re looking for a great time while catching fish this is your charter. Best experience, we all enjoyed our time and will be going again.

Crew were friendly and helpful which included filleting the tuna I caught (which other charters have refused to do). The captain left on time, didn’t move the boat too much or deploy an anchor so we maximised fishing time. All round good fun for me and my 11 year old son.

Top gear fishing charters I would recommend them. Had a great morning fishing caught plenty of fish. Captain and decky was great people. Even had whales come up alongside the boat and put on a great performance for us.Will go again.

Had an awesome day with Captain Brian and his crew. Very professional and friendly. Caught lots of fish and even a couple of tunas! Would definately recommend! Will come back if ever in Gold Coast again!
