Come fish the Sailfish Capital of the World with a crew that lives and breathes South Florida offshore fishing. From sailfish exploding on kite baits to mahi, blackfin tuna, kingfish, and wahoo tearing through the spread, Catch of the Day is built around one thing — giving our anglers the best shot at quality fish.
Fish aboard our 37’ Ocean Yachts Billfish, a proven offshore sportfishing platform powered by twin Cummins diesels and designed to fish hard without sacrificing comfort. A large open cockpit gives anglers plenty of room when the action gets hectic, while an air-conditioned cabin and private restroom make her just as comfortable for families as she is capable for serious fishermen.
Every trip is built around what the ocean gives us that day. We troll, live bait, fly kites, bump troll, and bottom fish, changing locations and tactics as conditions dictate. We don’t lock ourselves into one style of fishing — the goal is to find the bite and give you the best opportunity to capitalize on it.
Capt. Trent Shapiro is a Stuart native with over 25 years of experience fishing South Florida waters. Raised fishing out of St. Lucie Inlet with his father, he has spent a lifetime learning the local reefs, currents, seasons, and fisheries. Tournament fishing and time spent chasing big game throughout the Bahamas and beyond have added to the experience he brings to every charter.
Catch of the Day is also committed to protecting the fishery and giving back to the community through conservation efforts, youth fishing events, educational seminars, charity trips, and local outreach.
Whether you’re looking for your first sailfish, filling the box with dinner, or you’re an experienced angler ready to fish hard, climb aboard and let’s go fishing.

From start to finish we had an incredible time with Captain Trent and crew. Once selected, I was shortly contacted by Captain Trent and walked through the future booking. I was then followed up to confirm that the weather was going to be good (it was actually amazing) and that all things were ready for our arrival and asked if there were any questions. We arrived on time and departed on time after a short, but important safety briefing. It should be understood that these trips are called "fishing" and not "catching" but true to the name of the boat, within 30 minutes or less of arriving at the fish spot, we had tight lines and an amberjack joined the ice chest. Through out the course of the trip, the crew worked very hard to keep the baits fresh, free of weeds and spotting for activity. We caught a nice batch of fish, including a mahi mahi which was the target fish we were hoping to catch! Once the trip was completed, the fish were cleaned up, ziploc'd and ice offered for us to bring them home. Again, great communications, great experience, cannot recommend this team enough! Thank you Captain Trent and team for a very memorable experience had by all!

Over the last year I have planned and booked charter trips for me and a few friends. Each time the captain found reason to cancel, even after weekend vrbo's were paid for. This time once again the weather turned south at the tast moment, but this time we were not to be disappointed. Captain Trent called me and gave us the weather update and the option of what to do. We decided to go and boy was it worth it. Captain Trent worked hard all Day to keep is between the storms and on the fish. As for his mate, Bazil, I have never met a harder working person in my life. This young man never stopped. All lines were in the water as fast as possible, constantly changing leaders and baits to make sure we didn't miss a fish. During the day we cought multiple Mahi, limited out on Tuna, and landed 2 Sailfish. Both Bazil and captain Trent were enjoyable to be around and very knowledgeable as well. The boat..... There is no way by looking at it you would know it was almost 15 years old. the boat is beutiful. It was a nice surprise to find that the cabin has air conditioning. It was a well needed brake from the sun. I would definitely recommend booking with Captin Trent, and I will be back as soon as possible for another day.
Captain Trent called me and advised me against going out during what was expected to be particularly rough water. We adjusted our 3-day excursion with him and had an absolute blast - Captain Trent is a terrific guide. His crew is also top-shelf. I am so glad I was able to book Catch of the Day and would absolutely recommend to others. They work hard. They treated us so well and made it very fun, indeed!

Really appreciate the great review Mike! It was an absolute blast having you aboard, and we’re glad you guys enjoyed your time out on the water. Nothing beats good fishing and great company. Looking forward to the next trip!
We had a great time with Captain Trent and his first mate- slow start, but all of a sudden all 4 lines were hit! We had 4 bonitos on the line which put up a pretty good fight- we were able to get two in the boat- dolphins managed to pick off the other two. After releasing them, we changed locations and caught two sailfish at the same time, a third was circling but managed to evade our attempts to land three at a time. After a lengthy battle we managed to pull the sailfish in beside the boat and release them. Great day on the water.
We appreciated all of the hard work by the captain and crew to make sure we caught fish. They are very creative and in our case they used "kite fishing" to make sure we had our prize !!! I would recommend that your book the "all-day" trip in order to really enjoy the trip. thanks Richard Lemieux
