Leave the bustling cultural hub of La Paz behind, and discover the open seas’ serene beauty. La Shina Sport Fishing invites you to explore the incredible marine life of the Gulf of California. Its mixture of reefs and unnaturally deep spots close to shore makes it a melting pot of extraordinary fish. The boat is operated by two captains, Jose and Carlos. Captain Jose Veliz has been fishing these waters for over 15 years, running charters for over 10, and claims his biggest thrill is seeing customers enjoying themselves. Carlos Ojeda Espinoza has 30 years of sport fishing experience and knows the area like his back pocket!
Trips take place aboard a 22’ Super Panga center console. A compact but agile vessel, she can traverse all kinds of water, and can accommodate up to 4 guests plus the crew. She offers some shade so that you can keep out of the sun, but you can also revel in it, with plenty of open space, too. She’s also a serious fishing boat. Fitted with outriggers, tuna tubes, and a live well, you’ll be on top as you try to lure and reel in some huge fish.
Hit the reefs for some exceptional nearshore fishing. Try bottom fishing to entice delicious Snappers and Groupers, and you may also catch Spanish Mackerel, exotic Roosterfish, and more. Try snorkeling for an extra cost to swim closely with these beautiful specimen. When offshore, the waters are deep and the fish are huge. From beautiful, prized Marlin, to delicious Tuna and Mahi Mahi, you’ll need all your strength to hook ‘em aboard.
At the end of your trip, the first mate will clean and prepare your fish for you to take to a restaurant and have it served up to you. From the start of the day – when you’ll be picked up at a hotel of your choice – right through to the end, you’ll be the boss. Trips with La Shina Sport Fishing have it all. Full Day Trip
Marlin and Mahi
Captain Ivan first took us to catch live bait, then headed out to deep water where we trolled for Mahi. We ended up pulling a 20lb and 60lb fish in the boat. We then set up for Marlin and ended up hooking up to a nice Striped Marlin. He was good with teaching the couple novice anglers that were with me how to reel the fish in. Once back to shore he filleted and bagged our fish for us. If you're ok in a smaller boat this trip will be fine for you, it has a beam of less than 7' so it's tight quarters, and no bathroom, just a small portable toilet.

Capt. Eduardo was spot on. Experienced. Did it all, handed me the rod each time. Dorado, skyjack and snapper. Knowledge on history of Baja. Perfect filllets, dolphin guides on way back. pickup/drop-off at our beachfront hotel. Ask for Eduardo.

Half Day Trip
Julio was great!
Considering the time that we are here is less of a high season for fishing, Julio knew where to take us and we were never bored! Caught 2 giant rooster fish, red snapper, trigger fish, and quite a few jacks. He helped me (novice fisherwoman) get the basics down and my parter is a seasoned pro and he had the best time too. We booked another boat with La Shina for the next week too, would recommend them to anyone!!

Half Day Trip
Bucket list trip and catch..
Jr. was our captain and I couldn't have asked for anyone better. We caught live bait first thing in the morning and then headed to the fishing grounds. We instantly hooked up to some nice sized yellow tails and continued catching for the rest of the trip. Thank you for such an awesome trip and if we return to the area in the future we will 100% book another trip.
