J-String
Known for its historical significance and the abundance of marine life, Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba, has so much to offer when it comes to fishing. If you're looking to explore these plentiful deep Caribbean waters with an experienced captain at the helm, you need a trip with J-String!
They're a family owned business operated by Captain Eddy and his son, mate Anthony. They have been running successful deep sea fishing charters for over 30 years and what separates them from others is their vast experience, friendly approach, and a desire to custom tailor their trips to each customer.
Jump aboard their 36' Crusader offshore sportfishing boat for an incredible day on the water. The 'J-String' comes with a 320 HP Caterpillar engine, outriggers, downriggers, an ice-box, and not one, but 3 fighting chairs. It also features a restroom, shower, beds, and a kitchen for maximum comfort on longer trips.
This beauty can take up to 6 anglers to the most productive spots fishing at the same time. Your lines will be wet just 5 minutes after leaving the dock. The waters here get very deep very quickly so you could be catching A-game species just 8 miles from shore. You'll be fishing the deep blues and reefs in pursuit of Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna, Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Barracuda, Jacks, and much more.
The catch will be shared between customers and the crew – you'll get to keep enough to have a hearty dinner for 10. Billfish are the only species that are released back into the water.
The captain will supply top-notch fishing gear, lures, and dead bait. Snorkeling equipment can also be provided for more people – just consult the captain before the trip to check if your size is available. Drinks and licenses are covered, as well as fish cleaning. If you don't want to take your catch home, the captain will gladly recommend a restaurant that will cook it for you.
J-String can't wait to have you onboard!

We went out on the J String at 7am. The boat was stocked up with plenty of cold beverages. Captain Eddie and First Mate Jonathon were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The boat was clean and well outfitted. We went on a 6 hour trip. The first two hours went a little slow as the fish weren't biting. Captain Eddie changed things up and went a little father to sea. Eddie saw the birds diving in the water as the water boiled with activity and steered us towards the fish. Jonathon was busy changing lures and baits to get us on the bite. We hooked on 9 fish and landed 8. Final catch was 7 Black fin Tuna and 1 Barracuda. After we came back to dockside Jonathon cleaned the fish and banded them up to go to the driftwood for our dinner. Captain Eddie called ahead our dinner reservation for us.This family run business will get you on the fish and I would highly recommend them.
Jonathan and his dad (the captain) where extremely kind and welcoming. Very knowledgeable about all things fishing and fish. I was with my two children (13 and 9) and each caught fish! We caught Mahi and Tuna. Jonathan would change up the bait if nothing was biting versus some charters that just keep the same bait and hope something bites. there were a total of 7 poles going and one other line that I cant remember what it was called. He explained how the various lines are rigged so lines dont get tangled. The sea was rough but the Captain managed to keep the extreme rocking of the boat a minimum. i would recommend and if we return to the island i will book them again.
If you're looking for an unforgettable fishing experience in Aruba, look no further than J-String Charter Boat! We booked this trip shortly after booking our cruise and had been looking forward to it for months. When our cruise line unexpectedly changed our itinerary and altered our Aruba arrival/departure times, Captain Eddie went above and beyond to accommodate us — even adjusting their typical schedule around our ship's arrival. That level of customer service alone was impressive. This father-and-son duo truly made us feel like part of their family for the day. They were welcoming, hardworking, and determined to make sure we had a great experience. They kept multiple lines in the water at all times and worked nonstop to put us on fish. The day was a success — we caught 4 fish total: 2 mahi mahi, a blackfin tuna, and a bonita! The excitement, hospitality, and overall experience made this one of the highlights of our trip. We would absolutely book with them again the next time we're back in Aruba. Highly recommend!

Went with one new and 2 experienced anglers with high hopes! (of course) The captain did not disappoint! He put us on fish in less than an hour. His son, Jonathan, had the lines, bait, teasers- everything set up for us to successfully catch fish. At times we were reeling in 2 & 3 at a time! Wind and waves are definitely no joke. The nausea was bad for all of us but we chummed up the water and caught more fish! :) The captain was an expert at navigating us thru the waters. The captain and Jonathan are true experts and extremely friendly! They were happy to teach and share their wisdom. Jonathan was one of the best first mates we've worked with :) We highly recommend!
Highly recommend j-string, experience was amazing! They had high quality equipment to make sure we were landing the fish on the boat. Jonathan was quick to react to everything, he knew when to switch things up, not only did he answer our questions but he took initiative to teach beyond what we could think of asking. He was extremely smart about everything we talked about. Jonathan also vibed along with us as if we had been friends for years. We felt super welcome. We will definitely be booking with them again! Thank you Eddy and Jonathan for checking another thing off our bucket list!
