Fishing was a but slow, caught 4 albacore tuna. Took enough for Lucy’s to cook up at the marina. Crew worked hard to put fish in the boat. constantly checking baits, changing rigs to see if something else will produce a bite. Very friendly, chatted most of the trip. If I recall correctly we had 5 rods out, three teaser rigs, and a kinda down rigger hand line. One of the albacore caught I pulled in with the handline, that was a first for me. I did a lot of review reading on fishbooker before choosing J-String. Great reviews, and just seemed like they took their fishing seriously. That reflected on my trip. Again, it was a little slow, but no matter how great the crew is, its still fishing. Next time im in Aruba I would without hesitstion go out with J-String again.
Me and my wife went out for a 6 hour fishing trip while we were in Aruba. Both captain and first mate had great energy and worked hard for us to catch fish. They were on time and ready to go when we arrived at the boat. We ended up catching 9 fish total. 6 Bonita's. 2 Mahi Mahi. 1 Tuna. During our fishing trip we also had a pod of dolphins racing the boat and fully jumping out of the water. Was a great surprise. Finally after we got done fishing the crew set us up with Driftwood restaurant where they cooked our Mahi Mahi and Tuna for dinner (for a small fee). It ended up being a great dinner. I would highly recommend J String!

Been to Aruba for over 20 years first ever deep sea fishing and booked a tri for 4 hrs and most amazing trip out! Captain Eddie and his son Jonathan, had the boat ready to go with drinks and bait. Sinc this was our first time deep sea fishing, Jonathan explained what reels are for what fishes and how and why they are set up the way they were. He explained that they get into deep water about 30 mins out and for most a 4 hr trip is good. We went out and around and we got our first catch about an hr in and was a Bonita and shortly after we got another Bonita. I think by 8:45we got 3 fishes. Captain Eddie got us pretty close to floating rig an we caught our first yellow fin tuna. then quietness until about 10ish. then the feedig frenzy happened and all the captains were chattering on the radio. we caught 3 more 2 on a double line. as we were heading backand Jonathan was prepping to head back on line went off and he handed it to me and started to real it in the lines were long and took a bit but brought i a 24" mahi mahi, once that came in the last reel out went off and another fish was on the line, my arms was already tired from the first mahi mahi and this other fish was heavy and I thought it was a double, my arms and hand was gong numb trying to reel it in. After the hard fight we brought in a 36-42" mahi mahi. Jonathan explained that the mahi mahi was fighting and with the big head and swimming sideways was what made it fight, but omg it was well worth it! I wish I could keep thema secret but it would be unfair to them, I'll be honest we were on a budget looked and wasn't even sure if the kid would participate, family of 4, so I looked for one of the lower cost option, with good reviews. I am so happy that more expensive doesn't mean better. All said and done, we all reeled in a fish, got 9 fishes in total done by 11am and got to enjoy the rest of out day. thank you Captain Eddie and Jonathan for making this an awesome trip!!!
We went out on the J String at 7am. The boat was stocked up with plenty of cold beverages. Captain Eddie and First Mate Jonathon were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The boat was clean and well outfitted. We went on a 6 hour trip. The first two hours went a little slow as the fish weren't biting. Captain Eddie changed things up and went a little father to sea. Eddie saw the birds diving in the water as the water boiled with activity and steered us towards the fish. Jonathon was busy changing lures and baits to get us on the bite. We hooked on 9 fish and landed 8. Final catch was 7 Black fin Tuna and 1 Barracuda. After we came back to dockside Jonathon cleaned the fish and banded them up to go to the driftwood for our dinner. Captain Eddie called ahead our dinner reservation for us.This family run business will get you on the fish and I would highly recommend them.
Jonathan and his dad (the captain) where extremely kind and welcoming. Very knowledgeable about all things fishing and fish. I was with my two children (13 and 9) and each caught fish! We caught Mahi and Tuna. Jonathan would change up the bait if nothing was biting versus some charters that just keep the same bait and hope something bites. there were a total of 7 poles going and one other line that I cant remember what it was called. He explained how the various lines are rigged so lines dont get tangled. The sea was rough but the Captain managed to keep the extreme rocking of the boat a minimum. i would recommend and if we return to the island i will book them again.
