Having fished since the age of 5, Captain Shaun Uyeda knows exactly what makes a successful fishing trip. He's a true believer in living life to the full, and can't wait to give you a thrilling time aboard and out on the ocean.
Head out aboard his 29' Defiance Guadalupe offshore sportfishing boat. From Simrad electronics to Seeker rods and Daiwa reels, she's rigged with the best. Powered by twin 300 HP Yamaha Outboard, you'll whizz out to the fishing grounds, leaving all your cares behind. Up to 6 guests are welcome aboard, taking advantage of the creature comforts such as a Cabin, bunk, stereo, and private toilet. All ages are welcome. Great for kids of all ages.
Inshore trips will take place along San Diego's pristine coastline. From Point Loma, across Mission Bay, and up to La Jolla, you'll explore some stunning shallow waters. Get your fish on as you bottom fish for the bite of Bass, Yellowtail, Sheephead, Rockfish, and many more delicious and exciting fish to take home.
Bait is included and the captain will even clean and fillet your catch at the end of the day. Just bring some food and drinks (no glass bottles), appropriate clothing, and sun protection and let Pelican Sportfishing do the rest. Alcohol is allowed. The start time can be adjusted for the trip.

My wife and I had the most amazing fishing trip with Captain Shaun Uyeda. He is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we both had a blast. He kept us right on the action, and we ended up catching an incredible 13 different species of fish! Shaun even cleaned our catch so we could take it home for a fresh fish dinner that night. His boat is spotless, the energy was fantastic, and it was the perfect day out together. We cannot wait to book with him again!
To say this trip was awesome is an understatement. Not only did we all catch fish but Captain Shaun made sure we all had a good time. First go I had a California Yellowtail on the hook and into the boat. My bro also had a Yellowtail on in no time. 3 of us went and we all had insane fish interaction. After awesome 10 minute fights each (and then some) we decided to try some rock fishing, which was a blast! Definitely nothing like it though when one of those California Yellowtails start pulling out your line! If we could redo the day and live it again we would in a heart beat. An amazing trip is now a lifelong memory. Thanks Capt Shaun, you kick ass!
We had an amazing fishing charter experience in San Diego with Captain Shaun! From start to finish, he was incredibly family friendly, making sure everyone felt comfortable and had a great time, especially with our 12 year old. Captain Shaun is extremely knowledgeable about the area and knows exactly where to go to catch fish. Not only did we have success out on the water, but he also took the time to teach us new fishing techniques, which made the experience even more fun and memorable. He’s both professional and outgoing, creating the perfect balance of a relaxed, enjoyable trip while still running things smoothly and safely. I highly recommend booking with Captain Shaun if you’re in San Diego, you won’t be disappointed!
My sons and I had an absolute blast fishing with Captain Shaun with Pelican Sportfishing! We booked a 5 hour trip and caught a ton of fish, plenty for a delicious ceviche and fish taco dinner that same night! This was our first time fishing and Captain Shaun was extremely patient and taught us so much about the process and the fish we were catching and made the whole experience comfortable and exciting. I can’t recommend booking with Captain Shaun and Pelican Sportfishing enough!
Shaun was a great captain and engaging from the start. We were fishing with my teenage son and his friends. Shaun kept them interested, engaged and excited from beginning to end. Answering all of our questions, keeping our lines full of bait and pulling off the 30+ fish that we caught. The boys loved it and can't wait to go back. I highly recommend Shaun and his boat had everything we needed for a successful day out on the water.

Captain Shaun was born and raised in San Diego, California. His love for fishing began at the age of 5 when his dad would take him to Chollas Lake and Lake Jennings almost every weekend. When he was about 10 years old, Captain Shaun's uncle bought a sportfisher and once they started saltwater fishing, the captain never looked back. After witnessing his father fight brain cancer for 17 months before ultimately passing in 2018, and his uncle passing a few years before, Captain Shaun was reminded that life is short and should be spent doing what you love and are passionate about. He decided to finally take the leap he had been wanting to for so long and obtained his 6-Pack Captain's License. The captain also owns and operates Advanced Wiring Services since 2011. He has over 15 years in marine and auto electrical and mechanical experience, making him extremely boat savvy. He's happily married and has one son that he can't wait to teach to fish!

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 14 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
