Custom Rod Charters
Custom Rod Charters is located in a unique area of Port O'Connor, Texas, that enables them to fish the flats, shallow water areas, bays, jetties, surf, and nearshore spots. Captain Freddie Harborth is a native who grew up on these waters, and he can't wait to share his love of the outdoors with like-minded clients!
Spend the day aboard his 24' Haynie center console that can comfortably take up to 4 anglers of all ages and skill levels. Powered by a 250 HP Mercury engine, it comes with top-notch safety and navigational gear, a live bait tank, and a cooler.
Most of the fishing is done on light tackle, and you'll get to try a variety of efficient techniques, including bottom fishing, spinning, and popping, while exploring the bountiful inshore and nearshore waters of the area. Depending on your preferences, the main stars of your trip will be Kingfish, Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Black Drum, Spotted Seatrout, Redfish, and Flounder. In addition to fishing the open bay areas and jetties, the captain also does wade fishing in shallow waters.
He uses a mix of different top quality brands of rods and reels, and has both baitcasting and spinning reels (perfect for beginners). All the tackle is covered by the charter, while live bait is charged extra, and it usually costs around $20–$25 per person. The captain will clean the catch after each trip, free of charge.
There's no minimum age for children, but the parents should bring a life jacket their kid is comfortable in. The clients should also bring fishing licenses, drinks, snacks, and food. They can either store their things in the cooler that the captain has on board or bring their own.
Custom Rod Charters will do everything in their power to customize the trip according to your needs!

Freddie put us on this fish immediately and it was none stop catching all morning. Freddie was also patient and a good coach for our 12 year old.

Thank you , I had a great time with yall . Thanks again.

Captain Freddie immediately responded to my request to book, gave clear information, followed up, and more than that, gave my son an amazing trip. Even though the rain interfered some, he was flexible and left later and was able to figure out ways to get on fish anyhow. We will be back!

Thank you , enjoyed him as well . Had a good time fishing and talking to him.
Captain Freddie Harborth went out of his way to make sure we caught a variety of fish. Great day on the water!
Freddie Harbroth did a great job of putting us on the trout using live croaker. We limited out near bird island. We then went to catch a few bull reds and a jack crevalle using sardines as bait, what a fight. The bull reds and jack were fun for a fight and a picture if you have never caught one. We moved on the try and catch some redfish in the slot. Unfortunately, we had no luck there. Freddie was excellent, rigging and baiting us up, and netting the trout before the dolphins could get our catch. Overall, I would recommend Freddie.

Speckled trout fishing was a little slow as Captain Freddie was working on getting us our limit on trout. We were able to get 5 of the 6 with another 4 or 5 that were not quite large enough to keep and we caught several other species of fish that we were not targeting such as 5 skipjacks, 2 blacktop sharks along with 3 other species of sharks, gafttop and several other fish as Captain moved us to various locations to get our limit and even gave us an additional 90 minutes of fishing time as we tried to get that last legal size trout!
I was born, raised, and lived in this area my whole life. I have been around the water since I could remember – from being on my grandpa's shrimp boat and fishing with friends and family to now running a charter boat. Watching kids and adults from inexperienced to experienced fishermen getting excited about catching their first, biggest fish, or just having fun, is something I really enjoy. I just love watching people of all ages enjoy the outdoors as much as I do.
