Agawam Boat & Fishing Charters specializes in custom-designed fishing trips along the scenic coastline of Massachusetts. Captain Ted Marshall has been putting smiles on customers’ faces since 1995 and invites you and your family to join him in Essex on this exclusive adventure.

The captain’s boat is a 25’ Parker offshore sportfisher that accommodates up to 6 guests on inshore trips and 4 on offshore trips. She’s powered by a 385 HP Mercruiser Stroker engine and is equipped with top-quality navigational instruments, outriggers, , and multiple live bait tanks.

The vessel’s cabin has an outstanding sound system for your fun and relaxation. She also has a built-in restroom, shower, bed, and ample room to kick back. Enjoy the ride and take in the beautiful scenery of Cape Ann and Essex Bay!

Captain Ted runs trips from May through October. Depending on your wishes and the weather conditions, you’ll either fish from the shallow waters of Essex and Ipswich Bays, Essex River, or the deep Atlantic. Let the captain know what you want out of your trip and he’ll do his best to make it work.

On inshore trips, your main target species will be Striped Bass and Bluefish, while on nearshore and offshore trips you’ll get to battle Atlantic Mackerel, Pollock, Blue Shark, and even Bluefin Tuna! Capt. Ted also offers lobster excursions, beach parties, and island tours that can be combined with your fishing trip. Another exciting option is Flounder gigging, enjoyable for first-timers and expert anglers alike!

You’ll be provided with state-of-the-art rods and reels made by Penn and Shimano, as well as live bait and artificial lures. All permits and fishing licenses are covered by the captain’s boat as well, so you don’t have to worry about filling out any extra paperwork.

Great Day Out on the River!

Half Day Trip – Ipswich Fishing on June 14, 2025 • 5 adults • 1 child

We had a great day fishing out on the river with Captain Ted. We had only done deep sea fishing before this, so it was a new experience fishing closer to land. We caught three striped bass, and we were able to keep two of them. Thanks Captain Ted!

Great trip highly recommend

Half Day – Fishing & Sightseeing on June 8, 2024 • 6 adults

We had a great time with Captain Ted and Charlie. We caught a bunch of mackerel and striped bass on our 5-hour trip. They were very helpful getting us all set up and fileted our catch for us. Ted and Charlie were also a wealth of local historical knowledge. At first we didn’t catch anything and I was thinking “oh well this is an awesome time anyway”. But I must admit once the fish started hitting, it was even better! We’ll definitely be back.

Great trip out

Half Day – Fishing & Sightseeing on July 18, 2023 • 5 adults

Capt Ted is an excellent host. A group of 6 adults, we took the 1/2 day fishing/sightseeing trip. It was great. Weather cooperated, but the fish, unfortunately, did not. Ted was very accommodating and tried his best to get us some fish. He may not be a native, but he is a local. He knows a lot about the area and took us throughout the Essex river and out to Crane's Beach and the bay off to the side. It was a fun day on the water. And the price was right.
