Sea Flea Charters isn't your typical fishing charter. They started out as a professional tournament team that traveled the great lakes. The team was made up of Capt. Brian Butts' sister and father, who had been fishing Salmon since 1967. The Sea Flea instantly became a top boat on the tournament trail with several wins and finishing at the top in most of the tournaments.
You'll be fishing aboard a 39' Tiara boat. This spacious offshore boat accommodates up to six anglers and there's enough room for everybody to fish at the same time. The boat has been restored in 2017 and has 2 350 HP Crusader engines. She features an enclosed cabin with AC, a private bathroom, a kitchen, and she's wheelchair accessible.
Depending on the season, you'll target Coho and Chinook Salmon, Walleye, Yellow Perch, Brown Trout, and Steelhead. You get to keep the catch and the crew will clean it for you free of charge.
The sponsors keep the Sea Flea stocked with the best possible fishing gear, which is included in the price. You only need to bring your snacks and drinks. You can purchase your fishing license from the captain for $10 per person.

We went for Kings on the big water. We were the only boat going out as it was projected to be a bit bumpy. We headed north towards Muskegon and trolled off Hoffmaster park. We caught one going out. The waves were building as we decided to turn and troll with the waves. We caught 5 more. Going 6 for 6 including a 23 pound king. The crew handled the wave challenge perfectly and kept the fishing lines in the water in challenging conditions. It was a show of talent, determination and experience that made the trip a huge success!!
We came back with 9 kings and 1 coho. The little buggers kept biting and swimming by, but just wouldn't commit to the meal! Captain Brian and First Mate Jarod did great. Kept switching out lures to give them options and repostiined us out on the water. This was my 2nd time booking with Sea Flea, and there will definitely be a third!

July 6, 2025 our family took its first charter on Lake Michigan!! It was a great experience!! The Captain (Matt) and First Mate (Luke) were great, accommodating, and well experienced!! Whether experienced or inexperienced fishing clients, I would highly recommend Sea Flea Charters, LLC!! The owner, Brian, responded to questions quite quickly (15-60 minutes) which I also appreciated with this charter!! Our family can’t wait to use this charter and crew in the future again!!
we got into the King Salmon and all 3 of us had a great time! would recommend and out us on fish! Great guys as well

We did the evening sunset fishing trip. It was great! Calm water and a different experience than fishing during the day. Great way to end a fishing trip returning to dock with the moon out. We got into fish pretty quickly. Landed 9 and lost 1 - combination of chinooks, coho and lake trout. Had one double on to end the evening. Jarod and Will were an excellent captain and first mate.
