RockenReel Sportfishing has a trip with your name on it along the stunning waters of Dana Point. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Steven knows them forwards and back.
Amberjack, Pacific Barracuda, Calico Bass, California Sheephead, Dolphin Mahi Mahi, Halibut, Rockfish, White Seabass, Mako Shark, Thresher Shark, Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, and more are in the cards if conditions are right. On the day of your trip you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Steven can also have you kite fishing.
Capt. Steven welcomes anglers of all ages, including kids, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
Your boat for the day is a 47’ Convertible that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, and all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You might need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials to bring are a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.
