This charter is as much about fishing as creating an enjoyable experience for every type of angler. Whether you are the angler who wants to be handed a rod with a fish already hooked, or the angler who wants to be a part of every step, Captain Tom Ullum has you covered!
Capt. Tom grew up fishing Lake Erie, and he's all about having a good time on the water. With him as your guide, you'll have the chance to target some of this Great Lake's famous species – Walleye and Steelhead! In addition to this, your captain is more than prepared to accommodate any special requests, so don't hesitate to ask. He'll help you tailor your trip to perfectly suit your preferences.
You'll be fishing from your captain's 30' Hewescraft Alaskan, freshly on the water in 2021. Powered by two 200 HP Mercury outboards and a 15 HP kicker motor, it can accommodate up to 6 guests in comfort. The vessel is decked out with top-quality navigational and safety gear, life jackets for a variety of ages, as well as gear that'll help you drift fish and troll for your catch. Usually, there will be up to 12 lines in the water at all times and, when the fish bite, you'll take it in turns to fight it.
When it comes to the trips on offer, your captain recommends that experienced anglers opt for the Steelhead/Walleye combo adventure. It's great way to test your skills and catch some tasty fish. All of your captain's other trips can be adjusted to fit anglers of all skill levels, and shorter trips are the perfect option for families traveling with little ones. If you're not sure which trip to opt for, just speak to Capt. Tom beforehand, and he'll help you out.
Your captain will provide you with rods, reels, lures, and bait. You'll need to bring along snacks and drinks, a cooler to store your catch in, and a valid fishing license. Then you just need to get ready to cast off on an excellent adventure with Lake Erie Charter Service LLC!

We had an amazing day on Lake Erie catching multiple walleye! Our captain was Jeff - he was friendly, knowledgeable, and worked hard to ensure “line management” and “controlled chaos!” You will learn these terms with him! The boat was clean and comfortable, and the scenery on the lake was beautiful. We were the only ones out there which surely allowed us to catch plenty of walleye and made some great family memories. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing, and successful fishing trip, I highly recommend this lovely family friendly charter. We had an 10 and 14 year old with us. They loved it! Do make sure to take your dramamine! We would certainly book this trip again!

Jeff was a great captain—friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to teach while helping us catch fish. Unfortunately, everyone else in my group got seasick, so we had to end the trip early. Even so, in about an hour on the water, I caught 15 walleye. I can only imagine how great the fishing would have been if we’d been able to stay out longer. I’d definitely recommend booking with Jeff!

Captain Jeff took us out and we reeled in our daily limit. The boat was the perfect size for our 5 person party and Captain Jeff was fun to spend the afternoon with. When we got back to the dock we met Captain Tom and hung out with him while our fish were being cleaned. I will definitely be booking our charter next summer with these guys.
After reading a lot of reviews I decided to book a half day with Lake Erie Charter for my daughter and me. We had Robert as our captain and he was great at explaining everything to the both of us since it was our first time trolling (and fishing in Lake Erie). We ended up catching our limit of nice sized walleye well within our allotted four hour time and decided to head back in early as my 9 yr old was worn out from all of the reeling, lol. We did get to meet Tom, the owner, before we left and he seemed as polite and professional as our Captain. When we get a chance to go back I’ll definitely be a repeat customer as the experience for the both of us couldn’t have gone any better!
10/10 charter, Jermey and his first mate were amazing. We limited out in about 3 hours with 5 guys. The cleaning was quick and we were out of there by 5:30/6... Started at 2. I would recommend anyone this charter its a little rough on the boat in the waves if you havent fished before but once you get to the spot your good!

Thanks and yes when the wind is blowing it can be a little bumpy on the lake. glad you guys had fun and we will see you back in a few weeks

The captain started fishing at a very young age. His grandfather had a boat on Lake Erie. Not only did his father also have a boat on Lake Erie, but he had a Bass boat too. Needless to say, the captain didn't have a chance of not becoming a fisherman! If they weren't on Lake Erie fishing, they were on one of the other nearby inland lakes. Since the captain was about the age of 10 and onwards, he and his family have fished at least one tournament a week. Fishing has simply always been what they did and there aren't many styles the captain doesn't have some sort of experience in.
