Originally from New Hampshire, Capt. Rich moved to Colorado and spent years freshwater fishing in the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers. After guiding there, he settled in Florida to take advantage of the fishing opportunities here. He spends every moment possible on the water and knows exactly what makes a productive trip. He promises to share his tips with you to get you landing that dream catch.
Up to 3 guests are welcome aboard the 18' Xplor flats boat. Built specifically for fishing these waters, she's a light vessel that will keep you afloat in even the shallowest of spots. Capt. Rich will guide you from Islamorada to the rich fishing grounds of the Everglades, leaving you in awe of the beauty of the national park, before getting your fish on.
You'll be provided with rods and reels, and even fly fishing gear, as you sight cast for the bite of some tough-fighting beasts. Using a range of live bait or lures, you'll look to trick your unsuspecting prey onto the end of your line, after creeping up quietly on them.
Get ready to make use of all the skills in your angling locker, before using all your strength to hook aboard some prized fish. Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Redfish, Snook, Jack Crevalle, and Snappers all promise to put up a fight to come aboard, so come prepared for a workout to land that all-important catch.
You'll practice catch and release. All you need to do is bring some drinks and snacks to fill the onboard cooler, and settle in for a thrilling day.

Half Day Trip (PM) on June 26, 2021 • 2 adultsRich was wonderful. I had booked two other charters with different captains and neither would respond to me and both canceled at the last second. Rich communicated with me pretty much immediately. He was kind and I felt as if he truly understood how important this trip was for us. We didn’t have as much luck with big fish as we would have liked but he kept trying different spots and that’s all I could’ve asked for. My wife also had a blast and I wasn’t sure that she would so that was huge for me. We saw a couple different sea turtles and a manatee as well as a shark, and the sunset was incredible. Overall very grateful we got to go with Rich and if we get the chance to go again I won’t hesitate to go with him again. Thank you man

My son caught a few really big fish and we had a blast zipping around the back country on Richard’s awesome Xplor BoatWorks flats boat. Not only did Rich put my son on some awesome fish, but he gave him some great lessons in casting and reeling. Our time with Rich was invaluable for my son and I had a blast zipping around taking in the amazing scenery. Highly recommend!

Half Day Trip – Tarpon and Tailers on April 14, 2021 • 2 adultsCaught a 7 foot nurse shark. Had a couple of big tarpon on. Had a 100 pound tarpon on for about half an hour. Got it next to the boat and it took off again until a hammerhead took it. All in all it was a great experience. Captain rich was very good and knowledgeable with the area. He’s a good guide and I would use him again. Good time and fun.

After several charter issues during my week in the keys i booked Rich for a final evening of trying to scratch off a Tarpon of my bucket list. He did that within a few minutes of leaving the dock BUT that is not why I would recommend him. He is extremely passionate about his fishery, he asked what I wanted out of the trip as well as letting me his expectations, he was great coaching me in the techniques that work in this fishery vs what I know from a lifetime of personal experience. In my opinion he is in the perfect zone of having many years of experience but yet not being burned out from the grind of a charter Captain. If I ever make it back and do a charter Rich will be my first call!
Rich was awesome. I told him I was interested in crossing off catching a tarpon from by bucket list and within 15 minutes at our first stop I was able to put two boat side. You can tell Rich cares a lot about putting his clients on fish and making sure they have a great time doing so and is super knowledgable. If I come back this way I will definitely be booking another trip with Rich.

A New Hampshire native originally, Captain Richard spent years fishing the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers, even guiding there from 2014 to 2017. He moved down to Florida in 2015 and spent so much time on the productive inshore waters of the Everglades, that he decided to start his own business. A specialist in sight fishing, he loves teaching newcomers the tricks of the trade, and loves nothing more than seeing customers reel in the fish they've always dreamed of.
