+17Catch one of the oldest fish species in the world with Rivertrek! Join Captain Wade in Portland, where you’ll go either on the Columbia River or the Willamette River to target Sturgeon. These rivers are the route to Astoria, where they migrate every year. Challenge yourself with a magnificent fish at the other end of your line.
Once you meet Capt. Wade, you’ll board his 26’ Riverwild aluminum vessel. This boat accommodates up to 6 guests, features all navigational electronics you’ll need, and has 2 engines - a 250 HP Yamaha engine and a trolling motor with autopilot.
These monster fish are bottom feeders, so the best way to catch them is by anchoring the boat, throwing fresh bait, and waiting for your main target to show up. They are hard fighters and reeling them in is by no means an easy task. Feel your adrenaline rise as you feel the lines go tight and start to scream.
Catching several Sturgeon over anywhere from 50-400 pounds is to be expected from April through September. On the good days, you are only limited to how many you can catch cause your arms are burning!

6 Hour Trip – Sturgeon Private on June 21, 2025
We not only caught multiple sturgeons, but the entire experience was awesome. It poured rain the entire trip and Wade still made sure to filet the Shad he also had us catch, as well as always kept 4 lines in the water. He made sure the experience was great and we got plenty of pictures of the fish we caught. Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed!

6 Hour Trip – Sturgeon Private on June 7, 2025
Spent a awesome day fishing for strugeon on the mighty Columbia river Captain Wade. Super nice CLEAN boat. Super nice guy. Top of the line poles and gear. Great communication though out the entire process and boy did he put us on the fish. All 5 of us caught monster strugeon! My hope and wish as the grandfather was for my granddaughter and son in law to catch the biggest fish that they had ever caught. They did!!! A trip we will all remember the rest of our lives.

Stale donuts strike again!

Another amazing, outstanding trip with Capt Wade! Beautiful morning on the water catching some HUGE fish, but 1st as always, boat rules must have a stale trash donut to motivate the fish into biting. As always Capt. Wade delivered great commraderie, laughs, conversation, information and of course massive picture worthy catches. I cannot wait for my next trip out.

Captain Wade was extremely knowledgeable and experienced to ensure my grandson got the bucket fishing list experience of fighting and reeling in the monster sturgeon fish. Even the shad bait fishing was fun to reel those in.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 3 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.

Child Friendly
I love having kids on the boat. There are no age limits, however kids under 12 should have their own life jackets that they are comfortable with since they are required to wear them at all times underway. I do have youth jackets onboard if needed.
Catch and Release Mandatory
Sturgeon fishing is typically catch and release except for a few retention days allowed by oregon department of fish and wildlife.
