If you’re ready to experience unforgettable sturgeon fishing in Warren and the greater Portland area, Rivertrek NW – Sturgeon Fishing has you covered. Join Captain Wade on the Columbia or Willamette River, legendary migration routes for these prehistoric giants as they travel toward Astoria each year.
Sturgeon are powerful bottom feeders, and targeting them means anchoring up, dropping fresh bait, and waiting for the bite that makes your reel scream. These fish are famous for their strength and stamina, delivering long, hard fights that push even experienced anglers. From April through September, it’s common to hook into multiple sturgeon ranging from 50 to over 400 pounds. On a good day, the only limit is how long your arms can last.
All sturgeon trips are strictly catch and release, making this one of the best conservation-focused fisheries in the region. If other species are encountered and regulations allow, Captain Wade can clean your catch.
You’ll fish aboard a 26’ Riverwild aluminum boat that comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests. The boat is fully equipped with modern navigation electronics and powered by a 250 HP Yamaha engine, along with a trolling motor featuring autopilot for precise positioning.
Rods, reels, tackle, and lures are included. Live bait is commonly used—check ahead to see whether you’ll be catching it yourself. Heavy tackle bottom fishing is the standard method on these trips.
Families are welcome, and kids are encouraged to join. Ask ahead if child-sized life jackets are available, and consider bringing snacks for extra energy.
Fishing licenses are required for all anglers, and some species may be protected or require special tags. Please bring sunglasses, a hat, non-spray sunscreen, and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation (no hard liquor or glass bottles).
Book your trip with Rivertrek NW and go head-to-head with one of the oldest and strongest fish species on the planet.
