Fishing CR
Fishing CR is a family-owned business that operates out of Herradura. Captain Luis has been fishing in the area their whole life and know these waters like the back of their palm. Being very skilled and patient makes them great teachers for novice anglers. Use the opportunity to fish with locals, learn something new, and catch the tastiest lunch!
Come aboard the 28' Panga boat. This center console accommodates up to 4 anglers, including children 4 years old and up. The boat is powered by a 150 HP Yamaha engine, which is more than enough to take you up to 30 miles offshore. Equipped with everything you need for fishing, First Mate Luis is ready to assist whenever you need him. Tipping is customary to show appreciation for his hard work.
The catch of the day depends on how long you stay on the boat and how far off the coast you go. In the nearshore waters, you can go after Roosterfish, Grouper, and Snapper. A few miles further you can hope for Wahoo, Barracuda, and Tuna. For the most persistent anglers, the true prize lies even further when you reach the home of Marlin and Sailfish!
Except for Billfish and Roosterfish, you can keep the catch, and the crew will clean it for you. They'll also cover your fishing equipment, live bait, fresh fruit, and soft drinks. The longer trips also come with sandwiches included.
Whether you want the whole boat for yourself or to share it with other anglers, Fishing CR can make it happen. Experience Costa Rica in an authentic way and come fishing with locals!

We caught way more fish than we knew what to do with! Luis knew exactly where to go and we got fish after fish until our arms were sore! They were super nice too, offering us sunblock after I mentioned I left ours in the car. The first mate even offered us some mangoes he picked in his garden that morning. They really went above and beyond. Something I wish we had known ahead of time, there's no dock at Playa Herradura, there's a smaller boat that picks you up at the beach and takes you to the larger boat moored just offshore. You have to get into the water to get on the boat so come ready for that. I told my daughter not to wear sneakers but she didn't listen of course.

Dan thank you! Thanks for the note on the taxi boat. I will add it to my final expectation message!
My buddy and I booked this fishing charter with a goal in mind. To catch the beautiful Roosterfish and potentially take some good eating back home to the house. Capt Luis and his mate were very kind and informative. Luis enjoyed answering any questions we had and conversed in other things not fishing related. First 2 hours or so was slow , but these gentlemen put in the work and didnt stop until we started consitently catching fish. The Jack crevales were chewing, then my buddy got a very nice spanish mackerel that we ended up taking home. We had about an hour and a half left of our trip and still no Roosterfish. Luis was working overtime to get us the main targeted species and just like that my buddy and i both hooked up on beautiful Roosterfish! The four of us celebrated and their work really paid off. I would highly recommend a trip with Capt. Luis and his mate! Pura Vida!

Cockadoodle doooooooooo 🤙🤙

Our 18 yr old son loves to fish so this was top of our list when visiting Costa Rica. He caught a yellow fin tuna, Mahi Mahi and multiple other fish (rabbit, grouper, Margherita fish and banana fish). The crew cleaned it and we grilled the tuna steaks for dinner back at our VRBO. The crew worked to help us catch the fish and make it a great memory with our son

What a day! Pura Vida 🤙🤙

We had a nice family day trip and it was an amazing time. We weren't sure if we would catch anything significant, but ended up catching two ~150lb sailfish! After that we told the captain we would be interested in catching some fish to eat, so he made it his mission to catch as many smaller eating fish as possible. We ended up catching another 8 or so fish, and they made a fresh ceviche right there on the boat for us! We chose the 3/4 day trip and that was about perfect. I would highly recommend doing this!

Thank you Angie!! We hope to have you back soon!
Great day on the water. Luis and Douglas made sure we had a great experience. Caught a bunch of Mahi and one Tuna - probably had another Tuna on, but I lost it. A pod of dolphins swam with us for quite a while. They also kept us out of the rain showers until we got almost back to the marina!

Thank you for the great review Craig, and once again I apologoze for my misscommunication! Glad it turned out great!! Come see us again, 🤙🤙 Pura Vida Nick
