Alex picked us up right on time in a nice newer model van. He drove safely. The boat is a remodeled tuna open deck. Alex was so knowledgeable not on the fishing we did, but all the local sites, people and history.
Our fishing was tough as the wind was up and the waves in the channel came from all directions. My son and fish at home and don’t get sea sick, but on windy days or even not, bring Gravol or Dramamine. An interesting day as we caught sand tile for bait then I hooked a shark. Feels like a snag the whole time. 40 minutes later the line broke. My son hooked a big skipjack and fought for 15 minutes before the monster bent the hook straight. So 2 big fish.
Both of us were so very impressed and will do it again with captain Alex. Very much recommend mixed fishing.

Alex was a great captain that spoke English very well, very clean boat.  Bottom fishing was pretty good. Boated about 14 fish 6 being trigger fish, the only thing that has nothing to do with Alex and his boat but RUI’S won’t cook your fish any more because of “covid” just away of not taking the time to do something out of the norm.  Been on alot of charters and this was one of the better ones!  Hope this helps others.  Fyi Alex only trolls out to the bottom fishing grounds and than trolls back at end of trip.

We had a fun time fishing with Captain Alex! He picked us up from our hotel (fee) and told us about the region and fishing info (like avoiding ciguatera poisoning) on the drive to the marina. His boat was comfortable and even though I was nervous about the waves, I quickly relaxed when I realized how skilled he was and how the boat handled on the water. We trolled when heading to the sites for bottom fishing (and when going back to the marina; no hits while trolling, but we were fine with that), and we quickly caught fish. We caught tilefish (used for bait) and strawberry grouper (delicious!). My husband and I both caught fish before Alex started fishing with us, and at the end of the trip he asked what we wanted to keep of the total catch. He caught more fish than us but was happy to give us everything, which he cleaned and bagged for us to take to our hotel for dinner! We had a fun, safe time with Alex and would definitely fish with him again if we come back to the area!

Fantastic fishing trip.
Started the day with Captain Alex picking us up at our resort. Mostly bottom fishing with some trauling. I get sea sick so Captain Alex tailored the fishing to reduce the chance of illness & we were lucky with the weather as well so felt fine the whole trip.
Several species of fish caught including barracuda, tuna, strawberry grouper, trigger & squirrel fish. Alex is very knowledgeable about the fish and eco system as well as the history of Dominican Republic. Alex was very helpful, without taking over, allowing you to get on with fishing for the maximum time and always looking for the best fishing spots. We also saw a large turtle and amazing flying fish.
The boat is very comfortable and well equipped. There were two of us fishing with lots of space.
We would definitely go fishing with Alex again

It was a brilliant half day of fishing with Captain Alex. What a nice, knowledgeable guy. It was like I was fishing with a buddy back home in Canada. Caught many fish I have never scene before. We even had a double header of suckers (mine was the big one of course). Anyways thanks Alex for the half day next time we’ll do a full day.
