Captain Sal is originally from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, where he cut his teeth fishing with his dad for all species of fish of the Atlantic. He brought his considerable experience to Montauk where he runs Moondance Charters of Montauk, fishing there from May to November. And now Marathon, where he's fished over a decade. Now you will discover the beauty and bounty of fishing the Florida keys for a multitude of species.
You will fish with Captain Sal Trapani aboard 'Lola Maria Rose', a beautiful, fast, and safe 22' Grady White center console. She's powered by a 225 HP Yamaha engine and reaches the speed of 40 knots. There's all kinds of gear that will make fishing go smoothly, such as a live bait tank, a cooler, downriggers, and tuna tubes. There's also a toilet, to make the trip more enjoyable.
Your targets depend on how far off the coast you go. Stay closer on a short trip and you'll have the chance to catch King Mackerel, Cobia, and all kinds of Snapper (Mutton, Yellowtail, Mangrove). Head out offshore and you'll find Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Amberjack, Sailfish, and Tuna.
You only need to pack your snacks, drinks, and sun protection. Everything else is covered by the captain, including your fishing license, equipment, and even catch cleaning service.
Don't aim for the biggest fish, aim for the tastiest one. Capt. Sal will clean and fillet it for you, so you can take it straight to the frying pan.

Half Day Trip on January 22, 2022 • 2 adultsAs it being our first time fishing in the keys, we decided to get a private charter to help us find the fish in the area. After looking for a while we almost gave up on finding a charter because of the inflated prices; however, we eventually found Captain Sal at a very good price for a half day trip and decided to book the trip. As soon as we got to the stop we were hooking fish nonstop, of course only keeping ones of legal size. We hooked lots of tasty fish, especially different types of snapper. After a while we moved spots and instantly got right on the bite. Sal helps with everything along the way and is very patient. Definitely recommend going on a trip with Captain Sal.

We booked a1/ 2 day trip with him and even though it was windy and rough, he worked very hard to make sure we caught fish and what a great day it was! Yellowtail snappers and grouper (even though we had to release it) were caught. We had such a great time we booked him again for the next day (luckily he was available) and this time the weather was perfect! Hooked a barracuda, which was incredible to watch the fight it put up for quite some time. Cannot say enough good things about Capt. Sal - we plan to book with him next year when we return to Marathon! We met as strangers and left as friends! Outstanding job Capt. Sal - thank you!!!!

deep bite wasnt there but we tried trolling and jigging a couple of hours still then Cpt. Sal tool us in to catch yellowtail and snapper and we lost two makeral. 10/10 recommend!!!

Weatherman called for 5 mph winds and it was more like 15 to 20. water was rough but Cap made the best out of what we had. Did get s nice 20+ inch grouper and some keeper yellowtails.
The boat was in great condition, and the captain was very friendly and did everything he could to make sure we caught fish.
