She is powered by twin 800 HP Caterpillar diesels and she easily cruises at 30 knots. Blue Chip is complemented by state-of-the-art navigation and electronics, tournament grade Shimano tackle, a large 130 class fighting chair, and a giant cockpit with mezzanine seating. The salon has 2 huge sofas, a sink, a refrigerator, a microwave, and is comfortably cooled by dual a/c units. Blue Chip can accommodate 6 guests plus the crew.
With the help of his older brother, Blue Chip's owner/captain Jon Bunn caught his first Yellowfin Tuna at 4 years old. He has been 'hooked' since then. Captain Jon has fished recreationally, commercially, for private owners, and for charter. Blue Chip's first mate has had a similar career, and to put it simply, Captain Jon and his mate will work very hard for you. Together, they are a 5-star team looking to turn your fishing trip into a catching trip while making lifetime memories.

Captain Jonathan and his first mate we top notch! Before our trip I had a lot of questions and Jonathan was quick to repond and was thorough with his answers. The day of, was a great experience, he knew where to go, what was biting, and spent the time looking for the fish. We got lucky to catch what we caught (no guarantees in fishing) but walked away with 7 yellow tail tuna and stories to last a lifetime. Ill be badk again next year without a doubt!
This was our second trip with BLUE CHIP and they delivered in the exact same way as our prior trip. This CAPTAIN and his MATE are son knowledgeable. They just get the job done from start to finish, ATTITUDE, RESPECT and COMMITMENT. We will be back again for sure. Probably next year. We caught another one of our BUCKET LIST fish, so top praise to BLUE CHIP.
We booked this trip as a first sport fishing experience and it did not disappoint. The boat was well equipped and had all necessary amenities for an offshore fishing adventure. We ended up with 5 White Marlin landed and at least 1 break off and 13 Mahi-Mahi in the boat. Also saw a pod of Pilot whales and a blue Marlin on the trip. Captain Jon got us on the fish and Cleat worked non-stop to keep the baits in the water to keep us in the action. Would recommend to anyone. The best advice would be to keep group size to 2-3 anglers because although we landed 5, it seemed the average was 2-4 billfish for most of the boats coming into the Pirates Cove marina. This would ensure that each person is likely to get in the chair for a Marlin this time of year.
Very charasmatic crew and captain. They work incredibly hard to fine you the fish. Captain was incredible polite and welcoming. First mate was knowlegable and professional teaching us the ways and method. will look to booking them again for our next outing.
This crew is no joke. They work hard for the money and dont fail. the boat is super comfortable and even if you donāt catch fish its a good timeā¦BUTā¦ you WILL catch fish! we were one of a very few boats that put Bluefin in the cooler and every other boat was following us to try and figure it out. these boys know how and where. i
