Capt. Buddy aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you're after! Depending on the trip and species, you'll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, and kite fishing. You're looking at an 11-hour trip where you'll usually go after the likes of Marlin, Dolphin, Wahoo, Sailfish, and Tuna, depending on the weather and time of year.
The Capt BC is a Buddy Cannady with an overall length of 60' and an 18' beam. The signature BC flare and the 1000 H.P. Cat engine generate a speed of 29 knots. She was built in 1999 by the legendary Buddy Cannady for himself to be run as his personal charter boat out of Oregon Inlet. This would end up being the last boat he built for himself and ran until he retired from the charter industry.
She has since spent her time fishing in the Gulf Stream off of Oregon Inlet and Virginia Beach. The salon is made for comfort and relaxation. It is heated and cooled and has amenities such as a TV, DVD, XM radio, refrigerator, and microwave. She is equipped with state-of-the-art electronics, tournament-quality tackle, and a spacious cockpit and outdoor mezzanine.
The price of your trip includes all the rods, reels, and terminal tackle you'll need for a productive day on the water. As for fishing licenses, everything will be taken care of by the captain, so you don't have to worry about it.
There will be a first mate on board to help you with anything you need. Tips for good service are always appreciated.

Full Day – Offshore on June 23, 2026 • 5 adultsCaptain Buddy and his first mate, Wes, provided an outstanding experience, and their cabin was impeccably clean and comfortable for our group of five. They were both so friendly and professional, even taking the time to manage our expectations by letting us know the previous day's fishing had been slow. Despite that, we had an incredible day on the water and hauled in a fantastic mix of tuna, wahoo, tilefish, black sea bass, and Bonita. We ended up with 110lbs of fish after cleaning, which the fish cleaning crew confirmed was the most caught by any boat that day! We had such an exciting time that we are already planning our next trip back to the OBX just to get back out on the water with Buddy and Wes.

Full Day – Offshore on September 5, 2026 • 3 adults • 1 childCapt was very communicative, knowledgeable, and communicated with others on the water constantly to give us the best shot at catching fish (which we did). Landed on a patch of dolphin that we couldnt reel them in fast enough! I took my dad and 5 year old son, cabin was comfortable when needed and my son got to catch his first deep sea fish. Would recommend!

We got a fish on in less than 1 minute of dropping the lines with the next 5-6 fish on within the first 10 minutes. Over 25 fish...mostly tuna, an amazing king mackerel. My family had a fantastic day on the water with Captain Buddy and his deck mate West on the Capt BC boat. Both men were professional, knowledgeable, and shared our excitement for the catches made. The boat was spotless and had a comfortable inside cabin. They had all of the equipment needed for our deep sea fishing trip. Once we reached the first location, Captain Buddy immediately had us on a school of Mahi. We maxed out in under an hour! We will be eating fish for months. Then we went on the hunt for sailfish. My husband had a blast catching and reeling in a white marlin. Captain Buddy and West made our first deep sea fishing experience memorable! We can't wait to do it again!

Full Day – Offshore on April 20, 2024Capt. Buddy and super mate Watson were a great team out on the water. Weather wasn't all that favorable, but Capt. Buddy made sure he put us on some fish Watson was one of the best mates that I have had the pleasure of fishing with in my many years out on the water. These two make an awesome duo, great personality easy going and always there to assist if needed. On a scale of 0-5 I would give these guys an 8. If you want to get on a boat that has a team that will work their butts off to find you some fish the Captain BC is the place to be. I definitely will be booking trips in the future with these guys.. Thanks for making this a memorable trip for my son, myself and his buddies. The next knot he will be tying will have wedding bells tied to it not a fish hook.

Great time with Captain BC and First Mate W. We booked this trip for a bachelor party, and they exceeded every expectation. Even on a tougher day when the fish weren’t biting as much (which is all part of the sport) they worked nonstop to put us in the best spots possible and did everything they could to make it a great experience. Their effort, attitude, and the overall environment made the trip unforgettable. Would highly recommend and absolutely book with Captain BC again!

This was our second trip with Capt BC. This trip we brought a sailfish and white marlin to the boat and over 40 mahi in the fishbox. Captain BC is dedicated to a great experience and his mate was on top of it all day. The boat and equipment are all top notch. Thanks for another great trip. We will definately book with them on the next trip.
