Salty Peters Guide Service operates out of Port O'Connor and offers fishing trips within the area year round. Captain Jon has been fishing the Port O'Connor/Seadrift area (West Matagorda, Espiritu Santo, and San Antonio Bays) for over 20 years. During the trip, Capt. Jon educates anglers as to why the fish are in that location and where they are headed. You will be treated to knowledge of the history of the area. You can either wade or fish from the boat.

You will leave from a private dock.

Your trip will take place on a 26' Mowdy catamaran that accommodates up to 4 guest with a T-top which is perfect for shade in the Texas summers. This bay boat is perfect for exploring the back bays and/or shorelines.

During your trip, you will use either artificial lures or bait (either live or dead - bait is not included within daily rate), depending upon your comfort level, your request, and what the fish are biting on You will target Redfish, Trout, Sheepshead, and Black Drum. Trips are either five or eight hours.

Capt. Jon has all the rods and reel. If you want to wade and need the gear (except for boots) he has that too. All you will need to bring is your fishing license, snacks and drinks of your choice for the day.

Trips include fish cleaning.

It's easy to get ready for a trip with Salty Peters Guide Service. Secure your place on the boat on time and join the action.

Didn’t catch a lot of fish!
5 Hour Trip (AM) on June 19, 20263 adults

Me and my boys didn’t catch a lot of fish. However, Captain John did his best, and everything considered regarding weather; we all made the best of it! I booked this trip months ago, and you cannot predict all the weather issues, barometric pressure, etc… I’ve fished with Captain John before and conditions were better and he put us on fish! He’s a great guide that cares to have fun and put clients on fish! Would use him 10/10 times!!

Great first time with a charter!
5 Hour Trip (AM) on June 5, 20262 adults

Cpt Peters does everything he can to make a safe a successful trip from being vigilant on weather to communicating with other guides on the days success. We caught lots if fish and got to see parts of the area new to us, plus were entertained the entire time. Cpt Peter’s keeps the jokes rolling, but don’t worry he is open to restrictions on the jokes. We will look him up next time!

Its fishing not catching!!
5 Hour Trip (PM) on May 9, 20262 adults

We had a great time. The fishing was slow, but theres nothing anyone couldve done about that I really appreciated the fact that Captain John put his fishing knowledge to work doing everything he could to get us on fish. we ended up catching two black drum, one of them being a keeper and a bunch of hardheads. We will definitely book again!!

Knows the water!
5 Hour Trip (PM) on April 4, 20263 adults

Jon works the water year round and knows the current fish patterns. He obviously has spent time marking great spots and can give appropriate technical guidance. He seemlessly interacted with everyone in our group, from a 16 year old girl to the adults. We enjoyed catching fish with him and hope to book another trip in the future.

Reported catch:
Speckled Trout
Redfish
Black Drum
