Spartina Adventures wants to welcome you to the marshes of the Golden Isles. Explore its rich inshore and nearshore waters along with intriguing wrecks, flats, and the backcountry, and have lots of fun as you catch fish. Captain Tim knows where the best spots are and he’ll use all his knowledge and skills to put you on the bite. Join him and have a memorable fishing experience with Spartina Adventures!
You’ll fish from a restored 22’ Skeeter bay boat that can sit 4 anglers. It runs on a 175 HP Suzuki engine with a maximum cruising speed of 45 knots, uses a wireless trolling motor, and has all the modern GPS and fishfinder electronics for efficient navigation. You’ll also have access to a livewell in order to get live bait.
Some of the numerous species you can target include Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Tripletail, Tarpon, and many more. Using light tackle, you can try out bottom fishing, spinning, jigging, popping, as well as fly fishing. Feel free to bring your kids along and have a lovely family stay in nature. You can keep and take home the fish you catch but Redfish is to be released.
Captain Tim will provide you with all the tackle, lures, and fishing licenses, and will also clean and fillet your catch. You just bring some food and drinks and you’ll be ready for the adventure.

4 Hour Trip (PM) on November 13, 2025 • 2 adultsWe were looking for a half day guided inshore fishing trip out of Jekyll Island GA to target bull redfish. Several options were available, but Spartina offered both light tackle and fly fishing opportunities which we wanted. The photos promised beautiful fish - the big question was could we catch one of those gorgeous reds. I have medical issues, and messaged the Captain to make sure that he was aware of those and OK with my physical situation. He reassured us we’d be fine. We used the booking app to set the date and dialogue. Captain Tim was prompt responding to queries and made slight rendezvous adjustments to minimize travel time on the water - his instructions were clear and we had no problem connecting at the designated dock. Captain Tim’s local knowledge of the local waters is extensive, and he understands the feeding behaviours of target species as well. He quickly assessed our fishing skills (so-so), gave us clear and encouraging coaching, and before we knew it we were catching fish. I wont lie - the fishing was not non stop action - we had to work and pay attention - but Captain Tim’s patience and positive encouragement paid off that afternoon. He was totally focused on giving us every opportunity to catch quality fish - and it was very clear that he was enjoying the challenge to fulfill our dreams. I caught the beautiful bull red I wanted - a trophy photo I’ll cherish forever, my wife caught her bull red dream fish with amazing tail spots, and we caught speckled trout (one gator!) and black drum as well. Throughout, Captain Tim entertained us with local history, fishing lore, and those insights borne of detailed observation that leave memories. The experience with Spartina was easily the best we’ve ever had, and we’d probably say the same thing even if we hadn’t caught fish - the comaradarie on board was that good.

He made the trip enjoyable with his humor and all the gear being provided and helping us cast and bait our lines. We were able to catch multiple sea trout, red fish, a silver perch and weak fish. Even if you're not an expert at fishing saltwater like us, he is very patient and teaches well. We recommend highly!

4 hour fishing trip for a famly of 4 with two teen boys. Captain was very knowledgeable about the waterways, local wildlife, fish and local area. We enjoyed netting bait then went to 3 different fishing sites catching fish at all 3. Black Drum, pigfish, lots of different trout and catfish mostly. We saw dolphins, gators, sea turtles, lots of birds fishing and lots of Tarpon which looks like sharks breaching the water. Great trip and we highly recommend.

Captain Tim was a pleasure to fish with and talk to. He put us on fish even though the conditions were less than favorable.
