We operate out of Morro Bay, California, and have over a half-century of collective fishing experience. Join us and we'll share our knowledge to catch some of the most sought-after fish in the Pacific Ocean.
You’ll be fishing aboard the F/V Ghostwriter, a 25’ 2017 Defiance Admiral pilothouse fully equipped with everything you need for the best private fishing experience on the central coast of California. The boat’s powered by a Yamaha engine and uses up-to-date and full-featured technology needed for efficient navigation. The boat’s equipped with downriggers, a wireless trolling motor, and a bait tank.
You’ll depart from the Landing in Morro Bay and target everything from Rockfish, Lingcod, and California Halibut to King Salmon, White Seabass, and Bluefin Tuna. Our methods include kite fishing, trolling, bottom fishing, jigging, and even spearfishing if groups provide their own gear. You decide whether you’ll keep your catch and kids over 12 are welcome to join.
Our crew will supply the best gear on the market for your trip: Accurate reels, Phenix rods (the only tackle we do not supply is for Rockfish trips), and, when available, live bait. Your trip will also include free fish cleaning and bagging. Bring your snacks, drinks, and valid California fishing licenses.

Great Captain, nice boat, very comfortable. Beautiful scenery and a wonderful time.
This was a great trip. It almost didn't go because of the weather forecast, but Captain John was up for trying and the way it turned out we got a couple of hours in deep water before we had to go shallow. Nevertheless, John kept us on fish most of the trip. He was very accommodating and understanding as we had my grandson along who was on his first ocean boat and fishing trip. He encouraged Jaiden to try new experiences (holding fish) without any pressure or stigma. We landed 11 species of rockfish and learned a lot about the local methods, history and biology. Had the wind not come up I'm sure we would have limited in the first couple of hours. Highly recommend Central Coast Fishing Charters.
We got to catch a blue fin tuna which was amazing. Great conversation, great experience.
We had a great time taking you two up into Big Sur and fishing for Halibut, rockfish, lingcod and my favorite Blue Fin Tuna 🤙🏼

Your captain
San Luis Obispo, California, United States
Born in the Santa Cruz mountains, Captain John is a true Central Coast native. He moved to Cambria, California when he was 1 and started fishing out of Leffingwell Cove with his dad at the age of 9. By age 18, Captain John bought this first ocean boat and has been fishing off the Central Coast for over 30 years now. He's scuba certified and has experience in free diving for abalone in Northern California. Aside from being on the ocean, Captain John shares his passion for the outdoors with others by guiding pig and deer hunts. He's married, has two little girls, and his favorite species to target is Salmon.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 7 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.

When the captain confirms your trip, FishingBooker charges your credit card a 10% deposit to guarantee your reservation.
The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the charter operator on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods:
