We went twice with Rubios on a recent trip to Loreto. Opted for their 7 hour all inclusive trip. The trips were about seven days apart. The first day was calm and we travelled some 25 miles to fish for yellow tails. Our captain didn't try to communicate with us much. His constant smoking was also very irritating for non smokers. We used the same technic all day with limited success two bites landing one fish. A boat beside us using multiple rods did quite well. January fishing in Loreto is not that good so your expectations should not be that high. Or second trip Alfredo the manager move our trip ahead a couple of because of forecasted windy conditions. We arrived at 6:15 and they were ready to go but Alfredo said there was no live bait available today and suggested we could go the next day. I was very impressed so we went the next day. We had a different captain Carlos and bait. The weather was windy and getting out 25 miles was not feasible. Carlos was great talked fair English was funny and knows the area well. We each had our own rod in hand which was good. We landed 3 smaller yellow tails lost a couple and caught some other smaller fish. We had a great day on the water with Carlos and highly recommend him. Alfredo met us at the dock took our fish cleaned vacuumed sealed and delivered them where we were staying within an hour! Very impressed with Carlos and Alfredo and definitely would use there service again.

Headed down south 20+ miles and got into some bruiser yellowtail, got 3 very good grade 10-12kg broke off 2, hooked/released a couple of sharks. The reels weren't 2 speed maybe that would have made the difference to keep them off the rocks. But the captain was very knowledgeable, tried to make bait even after we ran out to try for more yellowtail, and in the end we went for some bottom fishing to round out the trip 6 nice pinto bass. They take and process with vacuum seal and they hold for you and deliver when you need it. They are a great company and I would use them again!

I've been fishing Baja nearly my whole life but it's been over 20 years since I last visited Loreto. Big mistake. If you really want to experience Baja and its beauty then you need to fish with Rubios. Well maintained boat, fresh bait, gear & tackle well maintained, captain that knows how to fish and most important the kindness, hospitality and service is made to make you feel like family. Yes we caught plenty of fish! But the experience was the real standout. Cheers!

Caught a sailfish caught a Snapper Lots of trigger fish Fishing was kinda bad But Carlos and the Rubios crew and boat and price were great Good job Carlos you are a good Captain and we will use you again Hope we catch some yellowtail or Dorado next time
Captain Carlos worked extremely hard under less then ideal fishing conditions! Late May not a great time for fishing! We ended up three days fishing with 4 big yellowtail and 6 excellent sized grouper. Would highly recommend Rubio's sport fishing ✅
Capt. Alfredo Rubio Quintana first fished at Loreto with his father on an 18' wooden boat with a 6 HP engine, using nets. That was 25 years ago when Capt. Alfredo was 12 years old. Their next Loreto fishing boat was a 20' fiberglass boat, a narrow boat with a 25 HP Johnson engine. When the captain was 17, they bought their first 'speed boat.' It was a 22' La Paz-style skiff with a 55 HP motor. In this boat, his father and he would lead as fishing guides for private boats visiting the Club de Vuelo. At 24, Captain Alfredo began working on his own fishing boat. His dad continues the same work, as does one brother. The three of them now have 4 Super Pangas. Nowadays, Captain Alfredo has a kind of enterprise with his sons with 4 Super Pangas ('Alicia 1', 'Alicia 2', 'Alicia 3', and 'Aleisamar') and 1 boat ('Kaiser').
