Bad communication expensive but did catch a great fish
Special 12 hour trip for Conor Witherow on April 7, 20231 adult
Ok, the skipper Sean charged me £300 for this day out which I didn't mind as there was only 2 of us however I later found out that there would of been more guys but their car broke down, I spoke to other boats who offered the same trip for half what I paid so make sure you know the average price is £150 as an individual. Sean definitely bumped up the cost knowing I was a tourist. there are many boats going out of Hout bay that all head to exactly the same grounds, in fact at 1 point I counted 13 boats all in a line fishing the same stretch. There was literally no explaning on what or how we were going to fish, I actually felt quite left out all day as Sean and the other angler decided to speak in Africans all day unless he was on the vhf where he spoke in English. They literally made no effort to explain anything or make me feel welcome. Fishing was slow but we caught 3 yellows between us, my fish came in around 40kg so I was happy in the end. Great experience, great fish the deck hand was a really nice guy but to sum up it was overpriced and communication was awful. I'd definitely go with someone else next time

Funny how we didn't explain anything nor any communication.you have paid for me to take you to catch a yellowfin tuna.when you boarded my boat I did a safety briefing in English.when we where catching fish ive explained and guided what to do in English.if I have other client on board speaking to me and in Afrikaans I can't see the issue why I should answer them in English just so you can understand.if there was something you wanted to know or what we have said in Afrikaans you where more than welcome to just ask.when it comes to price there are different reasons why our pricing is more and what packages you choose.first of all we have a brand new 2023 boat with top class electronics and state of the art tackle which makes catching a tuna a walk in the park.we also share our catch with our clients where other charter operators only give you a piece of the fish.my price is advertised and incl certain advantages.I did not force you to place a booking with me.you did your own homework.hope you will find a better experience next time with a different fishing operator.
