Starting out of Southport, North Carolina, you'll have a chance to experience beautiful sights and the area's productive fishery.
If you've never held a fishing rod in your life, you won't have to worry about anything but having fun. Everyone is welcome aboard. The company is family-friendly, so feel free to bring your children with you!
Your trip will take place on a 26' Sea Fox center console that holds room for 5 anglers. It runs on twin 200 HP Yamaha engines and uses modern GPS, fishfinder, and radio electronics for safe and efficient navigation. The boat's fishing gear includes outriggers, downriggers, and a livewell.
You'll have the chance to fish nearshore for King and Spanish Mackerel, using bottom bouncing. Or if offshore bluewater fishing is what you're looking for, then you'll be targeting Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Tuna. The crew wants everyone to relax and be Playin' Hooky Too! You're free to take home your catch and enjoy lovely meals with your family and friends.
Captain Josh will cover all the fishing equipment, your fishing license, bait, and lures, as well as catch cleaning. Just bring your food, and drinks and keep in mind that your trip cost doesn't include the mate's tip.

We had planned for a four hour nearshore fishing excursion with Captain Josh for my husband, our two teenaged sons, and myself. Josh and Justin were amazing. They were knowledgeable not only about fishing but about the history of the area and surrounding towns. They were extraordinarily generous with their time and energy by going over time since we started catching fish we could actually take home in the last 45 minutes of our trip. They were patient with us as inexperienced fishermen and helpful with my 15yo who had surgery in June so was wearing a walking boot. We highly recommend chartering with Playin’ Hooky Too with Captain Josh!!! When we return to OKI, I know we plan to again!

Capt Josh and Jamie worked hard to put up in the fish but the north wind wouldn't cooperate. After trying all inshore reefs Capt Josh tried going offshore but turned around due to safety concerns with the rough seas. Josh was honest and gave us the option to shorten the trip or continue doing what we had been doing unsuccessfully for four hours. We opted to cut it short and save time and money. Will definitely look to Play Hooky Too on our next visit!
It was definitely a tough day but thank you Mark for being understanding and a solid angler! We had a blast but the wind and waves won that day! Looking forward to a smoother day with you all!!

We had a great experience with Captain Josh and first mate Jamie. They were very friendly and knowledgeable not only about fishing but also the surrounding area. We caught Spanish mackerel very quick into the trip. I also had my five year old son with me and they did a fantastic job letting him be involved and making the experience fun for him. I would strongly recommend these guys
