Salty Charters Dare County 

I had an excellent experience with Captain John from start to finish. He was respectful, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable. What stood out most was his willingness to teach and explain things in depth. He didn’t just guide the trip, he made it an opportunity to learn, answering every question with patience and detail. His professionalism and approachable demeanor made the outing both enjoyable and educational. I would highly recommend Captain John to anyone looking for not only a safe and smooth trip but also a chance to gain real insight from someone with deep expertise.

There isn’t a way that I can effectively put into word how great of an experience it was fishing with Captain Jon. He was ready to go by the time we got to the dock and we even got out on the water a bit early. I fish fresh water a lot so I was very out of my depth in salt water and he took the time to explain and teach us the techniques that he uses to fish. The fishing hasn’t been great in the area so he wasn’t able to get us on any fish(to be fair the other captains in the area he was talking to weren’t catching any either but we did get some bait fish which was still fun) but we still had a great time. He was great to talk to and very down to earth, funny and made the experience 10/10! When we come down again next year we will absolutely be booking with him again. He’s going to be our go to!

Wife and I booked a full day with Captain John, hoping to get out onto the ocean and hook into some bigger fish like Amberjack or Cobia. We got out there and it ended up being way too rough before we got to the wreck we were trying to get to. Captain John suggested we go closer to shore for some trolling. Wife ended up getting sea sick so we took her back to the dock and headed back out. We tried another wreck that was closer to shore but once again the wind and waves were not on our side. We decided to try closer to the inlet to drift and get into bluefish. Caught a couple but nothing to really get your heart pumping. Had about 3 hours left in the day at this point so Captain John said he knows of a spot to go for some good sized Red Drum. I said let's do it cause at this point anything was better than near nothing. We dropped anchor somewhere in the sound and tossed out 4 lines. Within minutes we got on our first red drum. Nice slot sized fish for keeping, about 25 inches. Tossed lines back out and it HITS. I reel and fight this fish for what feel like 10 minutes on this HUGE red drum. Managed to get her in and came to over 43 inches. My biggest fish ever. I cannot stress enough how well Captain John did his utmost best to get me on some bigger fish. I would totally book him again the next time I'm down.

Captain John was great throughout the trip. Fish weren’t biting too much but that’s just how fishing goes sometimes. Would recommend and go again.

My friends and I have never been fishing with a charter before. This was the perfect first time, being able to go out and fish for bait, fish for trout, and catch some fish for dinner was awesome. The captain and his daughter were pretty cool. They gave us recommendations for how to prepare the fish in meals that they've enjoyed as well as a place that can clean the fish for you. Overall this was a 10/10 experience and we all you definitely go again!
