Looking to go fishing in Wanchese? Then, Sea Jay Fishing Charters has a trip with your name on it! With Captain Ryan at the helm of his 24’ Privateer you’re in knowledgeable and experienced hands.
Enjoy a 4-hour morning or evening trip onboard with all bait and tackle supplied. No need to worry about experience. From beginner to advanced skills we will have a good time. Redfish, Speckled Trout, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Whiting, Flounder, and more are in the cards if conditions are right. For these species, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Your vessel for the day is a 24’ Privateer that holds up to 6 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You’ll find rods,
reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures.
You can’t go wrong when you bring snacks, drinks, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

Absolutely the Best Charter Experience We’ve Had!

We’ve been on several fishing charters over the years, but Sea Jay Fishing Charters with Captain Ryan stands out as the absolute best. From start to finish, the experience was top-notch.
Captain Ryan clearly knows his stuff—he took us to all the right spots and made sure we were always in the action. We started the day catching our own bait fish, which was a fun and hands-on way to kick things off. After that, we moved on to targeting speckled trout and ended up with 14 beautiful fish—and yes, they were delicious!
Ryan was knowledgeable, professional, and just a great guy to spend the day on the water with. If you’re looking for a memorable fishing trip with someone who truly knows how to put you on the fish, book with Sea Jay Charters. You won’t be disappointed!

Great day on the water

Cpt Tyler grew up in the Wanchese area and knows the Sound very well. He's organic - as noncorporate as you can get.
Our party included three generations - my father in law, my brother in law and my son in law. My SIL had never been on a fishing charter before.
We had good success w/ speckled trout and caught our limit in the first hour - sometimes having 2 lines hitting at the same time. My FIL caught a nice drum. I've been on plenty of charters where we came back to the dock w/ an empty cooler.
There is a processing service on the dock. They will send you home with filets for a reasonable fee.
It was a great day.

The Best Day Fishing I've Ever Had

This was the most amazing trip. I booked this as a day out with my husband for our anniversary and I couldn't have asked for a better morning. The captain was well prepared, friendly, and funny. He took us to a great spot and helped guide us on where we should cast. We pulled in 3 blue fish, and a few string rays. He was on top keeping hooks baited and pulling fish, and sting rays, off the hooks for us. He even showed us how to best hold the fish so we don't catch and teeth or barbs. Then we headed to a second spot where we pulled in a black drum, and two red drum. He made sure everything was in the slot and made it into the boat.
When we got back the fish was all cleaned and filleted for us to take home. Overall we had a great time and can't wait to book again.

Captain Ryan was awesome, respectful, and answered all my questions about the area and fishing in nc. I rented the boat with my two small kids and he made it enjoyable and memorable for them as well. Will definitely be booking next time I’m in the area.
