Elysian Charters is located in Ocean City New Jersey where fishing and water activities have been one of the major attractions for generations.
Capt. Douglas will do his best to make sure you have a fun day full of fishing. This involves 4-hour trips, mainly fishing for Flounder and Striped Bass depending on the season and conditions on the day. On these trips you can expect to use techniques such as light tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, jigging, and spinning.
Your fishing adventure starts on a 20' Grady White boat that can safely take up to 4 anglers.
All rods and reels are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, Bait is included in the trip price. For reef trips, the guest should supply their own bucktails (3-4 oz). There are occasional snags on the submerged reef that need to be broken off. The crew will clean and fillet your catch for you to take home at the end of the trip. The boat will be supplied with drinks (water) for your pleasure, be sure to let the captain know if you have any questions or want to bring your own.

3 hour trip – Special on August 7, 2025 • 2 adultsBeen coming to O.C. for many years and have never fished in the bay / inlet. Capt. Doug was a wonderful host. Easy to talk to and my wife and I enjoyed our conversation. We’re roughly the same age with grown children so lots of stuff to talk about. I would describe the fishing today as okay. While I’m not an expert I’ve fished enough in different formats / locales to know that you don’t slay them every time. But we did catch fish (mostly my wife, ha !) including fluke, sea bass and the strange looking sea robins. Unfortunately the flounder were a little under the size limit so we’ll be eating out tonight ! I’m looking forward to another outing with Captain Doug and would recommend him to anyone.

Half Day Morning Trip on July 25, 2024 • 4 adults • 2 childrenDoug took me and my two sons (aged 10 and 13) for a morning's fishing for flounder in the bay. There wasn't a huge amount biting, but we had a good time, catching two skate and two small flounder. Doug was knowledgeable, very well prepared, and helpful. (We had no prior experience of fishing for flounder.) He did a great job patiently helping my sons and making sure they enjoyed the expedition.

Half Day Morning Trip on July 23, 2023 • 4 adultsMy brother and I and our two 17 year old sons had a great half-day trip out on the water. Captain Dough knew the waters well. The boat was really well equipped, comfortable and clean. He spent more than the allotted time with us and we caught more than 20 fish, including enough keeper flounder to feed us for days. Mostly flounder, but some small stripers and even a shark (smooth dogfish). We'll be back for an early autumn trip with him and highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic time on our charter with Captain Doug. From start to finish, his communication was excellent and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. Captain Doug is incredibly friendly, helpful, and full of great stories that made the trip even more memorable. He went out of his way to make sure everyone was having a good time and had everything they needed. His knowledge of the local waters and inlets was impressive, and it was clear he knows the area like the back of his hand. We truly appreciated the effort he put into making the day special for everyone on board. We look forward to booking another charter with Captain Doug in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great day on the water.

Captain Doug was fantastic. He is an expert in the field and was so friendly and engaged with the whole family. we caught so many fish, and have the best time. We went today, and my son asked if we could fish with him tomorrow. Can’t do tomorrow but we will definately go out again with Captain Doug soon!

We enjoyed our 3 hour trip with Captain Doug. We was fun to talk to and had a ton of knowledge to share about the Bay and other local Wildlife. It stormed pretty hard the night before our trip, but we still had about 10-12 catches as a boat - all flounder, one keeper.

As a teenager, I began working on the fuel dock and then started working at a fishing boat and speedboat rental agency. Eventually I became a biologist and worked for the state wildlife agency. After five years I became a conservation officer and retired from that career. Upon my retirement I obtained my merchant mariners captains license and I'm currently running charters for fishing and sightseeing.
