The Azores are famous for their instant drop-off and huge numbers of big-game pelagics. This is one of the best places on the planet to try for a grander Blue Marlin, and White Marlin also reach monster sizes. The Tuna bite is just as good, with Bluefin, Yellowfin, Bigeye, and Albacore Tunas arriving in force every summer.
Sao Miguel is also home to a range of inshore gamefish. Bluefish and Barracuda hunt along the rocky shoreline while Amberjack, Triggerfish, and Grouper patrol deep reefs just a cast or two from land. Throw in Bonito and Little Tunny, and you have endless light tackle action.
It takes an adaptable boat to make the most of these waters. Luckily, Capt. Pedro's 23' Tecninautica walkaround is just that. The vessel boasts a range of electronics to get you locked on your chosen species and outriggers to troll multiple lines at once, doubling your chance of hooking a winner.
Once you do find fish, the boat's Shimano rods and reels will let you fish with confidence, while her quality lures make sure no fish can resist your hooks. Azores Fishing and Adventures are strong believers in sustainable angling. All Billfish are catch and release and you can also release Tuna if you choose to.
Everything you need for the fishing itself is ready and waiting onboard. You will be given snacks and bottled water to keep you going, and fishing licenses are included for everyone onboard. Just bring your camera, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing, and jump aboard - the fish won't wait forever!

Half Day Trip – Big Game (AM) on July 8, 2026 • 4 adults3/4 of the people had not been ocean fishing before. Within a very short time we had hooked and brought in the nice tuna. The crew was wonderful with Capt. Pedro and first mate Vasco providing direction and coaching as needed. Since it was a time with friends, it was also great to see reactions to see dolphins, dolphins, and far too many dolphins. The only regret is that we did not book a full day of fishing and opted for a four hour trip. But it was a great introduction and we look forward to booking with the same crew in the future when more family and friends come to visit us on the island. Pedro and Vasco thank you very much and we hope this is the beginning of a long lasting friendship.

Half Day Trip – Inshore (PM) on July 5, 2026 • 2 adultsVasco and Guillermo made for an outstanding day on the water. Vasco is an excellent captain who kept us on the fish all afternoon. We lost count of how many barracuda, triggerfish, and rockfish we caught. Guillermo was a fun, capable first mate, and the two of them worked seamlessly as a team. Beyond putting us on great fishing, Vasco provided fresh peaches and watee during the trip and took great photos and videos so we’d have plenty of memories to take home. The whole crew was friendly, easygoing, and made the day genuinely fun. The boat itself was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. Highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a great catch and an even better time on the water.

Full Day Trip – Big Game on June 30, 2026 • 4 adults • 1 childwe went on the trip with our 15 and 12 year old kids and we booked the big game for the hole day. the crew was very flexible and suggested to try different kinds of fishing and routes if there wouldn‘t be a bite on the big game. it came so and at the end of the day we had a lot of smaller fish despite the big ones didn‘t want to bite. we really appreciate this. the crew is very professinal, we’ve been impressed. all in one - we were all excited and had a great experience! thank you so much.

We chased for the first few hours but remained positive and under up persevering, landing a big tuna to end our experience! It was an experience we will never forget, capped with a delicious tuna dinner tonight. We would definitely do this again as a family and Pedro and vashko were awesome and really friendly! Half Day Trip – Big Game (PM) on June 19, 2024 • 2 adultsPedro did his best to find the fish. We went after many schools of birds, hits on the fishfinder and ploughed through many miles of ocean. The crew never stopped and kept on looking for signs. But fishing is fishing, and you need some luck. Unfortunately in our 4 hour trip, no bites. We did see a few whales and many, many dolphins jumping besides the boat. We went about 7-8 miles out of shore. I doubted to book for this trip because the boat is relatively small. However, it’s very quick and for two anglers enough space! The equipment is very professional. Would recommend to book with Pedro!

The sea was calm and most of the time the sky was overcast which actually helped, in terms of air temperature. The big-eye tuna had the audacity to avoid us :) even if two fishes in the 40 kg range were hooked by a nearby fishing vessel, a fact which we have witnessed. Plenty of dolphins were seen, some of which came within metres from the boat. The Portuguese man-of-war could be seen at least every ten minutes, with the boat underway. Sea birds were present almost all the time. For someone who loves marine life, this area is a must. Both Capt. Pedro and his mate Vasco provided a thorough briefing regarding the fishing equipment, the related strategies and the tuna behaviour. I would highly recommend their services.
Pedro and Paulo were both excellent. They were super attentive and made sure we felt well taken care of. We got close to the marlin we were aiming for, but it just wasn't meant to be - that's the way of big game fishing sometimes! The boat was very clean and tidy and well-maintained. It was a pleasure to be on board, even with no fish (through no fault of their own) - thank you very much!
While we did not catch any fish, we had an incredible time seeing hundreds of spotted dolphins and conversing with Pedro and his first mate. They were both incredibly personable, worked tirelessly changing bait and position while scouting the sea for tune and marlin. They gave us some local recommendations as well and we had an overall wonderful time!
