Explore the Ormond Beach, FL with Backwater Maverick Guide Service! Join Captain Rand, who’s been fishing these waters for a long time. He knows where the fish are and how to catch them, and, most importantly, he’ll share his knowledge with you. Level up your fishing game and learn something completely new. Previous fishing experience is not needed to start your trip.
You’ll be fishing on an 18’ East Cape Evo that accommodates up to 3 guests. This bay boat was custom built in 2022 and is wheelchair accessible, meaning there’s a factory-installed wheelchair on the bow for the impaired anglers, as well as lean bars for the casting platform. The boat is powered by a 300 HP Suzuki engine, and features navigational electronics, and a live bait tank.
Explore the flats and backcountry spots, looking for different types of fish, such as Tarpon, Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Black Drum, and more. You’ll mainly use light tackle and fly fishing gear. You get to keep your catch and the captain will clean and fillet it for you free of charge.
All fishing equipment, including the fly gear, is covered by the captain. He’ll also prepare some snacks and drinks but feel free to bring your own. Don’t forget to purchase your fishing license.
Taking a trip with Backwater Maverick Guide Service is a great way to spend a relaxing and fun day on the water. Just pick the date and see you at the dock!

Rand Bennett is my name. While I work full-time as a firefighter/paramedic for a local fire department, being a fishing guide has always been a passion of mine... sharing time and adventures on the lake with others. Being in my current position, this is my chance to give back. I got together with the guys at East Cape Skiffs and designed a handicapped accessible 2021 EVO. By handicapped accessible, I mean we have choices like a factory-installed wheelchair on the bow for our impaired anglers, as well as lean bars for the casting platform.
